The Man with the Poison Gun: A Cold War Spy Story , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 721min
In the fall of 1961, KGB assassin Bogdan Stashinsky defected to West Germany. After spilling his secrets to the CIA, Stashinsky was put on trial in what would be the most publicized assassination case of the entire Cold War. The publicity stirred up by the Stashinsky case forced the KGB to change its modus operandi abroad and helped end the career of Aleksandr Shelepin, one of the most ambitious and dangerous Soviet leaders. Stashinsky's testimony, implicating the Kremlin rulers in political assassinations carried out abroad, shook the world of international politics. Stashinsky's story would inspire films, plays, and books - including Ian Fleming's last James Bond novel, The Man with the Golden Gun. A thrilling tale of Soviet spy craft, complete with exploding parcels, elaborately staged cover-ups, double agents, and double crosses, The Man with the Poison Gun offers unparalleled insight into the shadowy world of Cold War espionage. ungekürzt. Yuri Bezmenov: The Life and Legacy of the Influential KGB Informant Who Defected to the West , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 136min
“The main emphasis of the KGB is not in the area of intelligence at all. Only about 15 percent of time, money, and manpower is spent on espionage and such. The other 85 percent is a slow process which we call either ideological subversion or active measures...or psychological warfare.” - Yuri BezmenovThe KGB is one of the most famous abbreviations of the 20th century, and it has become synonymous with the shadowy and often violent actions of the Soviet Union’s secret police and internal security agencies. In fact, it is often used to refer to the Soviet state security agencies throughout its history, from the inception of the inception of the Cheka (Extraordinary Commission) in 1917 to the official elimination of the KGB in 1992. Whether it’s associated with the Russian Civil War’s excesses, Stalin’s purges, and even Vladimir Putin, the KGB has long been viewed as the West’s biggest bogeyman during the second half of the 20th century. Inevitably, some of the Cold War’s most shadowy actions involved trying to turn Soviet assets, whether for propaganda or intelligence purposes, but the Soviet system constantly had to worry about defections, as evidenced by the construction of the Berlin Wall in the early 1960s. That said, while the whistleblowers may be celebrated if they damage the public relations of an adversary, they can be controversial if they damage one’s own country, as evidenced by the polarizing reputations of individuals like Edward Snowden and Julian Assange. Yuri Bezmenov was among the first Soviet whistleblowers to attract attention on a global scale, and interest in his story has recently been revived thanks to his surprising cameo in the teaser trailer for Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War in August 2020. This came despite the fact he was far from the first ex-KGB agent or Russian to pull back the curtains on the Russian government and reveal the harrowing “truths” they were once sworn to harbor. ungekürzt. INFRARED FLASH THERMOGRAPHY (FT) FOR BUILDING DIAGNOSIS
This is my MPhil thesis on the topic of using infrared flash thermography (FT) for detecting surface cracks, subsurface defects and water-paths in building structures.Infrared thermography was started to apply on building diagnosis in the early 19th century. In the beginning,video-recording is used for storing the infrared images and for visual analysis. Towards the 22 century, with the rapid improvements on technology, infrared signals are digitized and stored in computer for future analysis. Besides, the acheivements on developing infrared camera with higher sensivity and higher capturing frequency, small deviation on the temperature field of an object can be recorded and analyzed. Therefore,in this study, infrared flash thermography (FT) has been used to detect the three major building defects in concrete structures:surface cracks, subsurface defects and water-paths.The high capturing frequencies enabled and enhanced the detection of surface cracks. Moreover, the increase in sensitivity and digitization of infrared signals enbale post-processing.In this study, first and second deviations are applied which enhanced the detection of small temperature change on defected area.- Shop: buecher
