Embracing Every Moment
Biography Info You'll be captivated by Tena Rae's magnificent vocals and the original heartfelt songs on her new CD, Embracing Every Moment. The album's upbeat single release, Nobody's Watching, is being launched in the Texas Music Radio Tour 2010. Early CD sales include the free DVD video, Katy K, a visual treat for fans of the album's first track about Tena Rae's relationship with her horse. Both on stage and on CD, Tena Rae's vocal magic is matched by her ability to enchant audiences with her energy and passion. Her eloquent delivery of lyrics speak from her heart, especially in her original songs inspired by life experiences. Maybe it was the years of training in musical theater that endowed Tena Rae with such a rich and glorious voice. Her musical journey started when she was a child in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Her talented family had roots in gospel, pop, country and opera. "My father played guitar. He wrote and sang funny songs. My grandpa was a fiddle player. My great grandma wrote music and played several instruments. She was the motivation behind The Helm Sisters (her four daughters), a well-known performing group in the 1930's." At age four, Tena Rae was already singing solos in church. When she was still a child, her family moved to Houston where she quickly immersed herself in the city's vibrant arts community. She played a leading role in a long-running regional production of Annie, and then wowed the crowds in Little Mary Sunshine - both at Houston's Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS). Between many additional performing engagements, young Tena Rae became a busy model for the Neal Hamil Agency and Bill Young Productions. She appeared in virtually every medium, from print advertising to music videos. This work took Tena Rae to exotic locations such as Cancun and Cozumel. But Tena Rae never left behind her passion for music. For 10 years, she was lead vocalist for the Eclipse Orchestra, often performing for audiences across the Southwestern US. During those years, she was also a lead vocalist at Houston's Swiss Chalet. She sang at several Houston Rockets and Astros games in the Astrodome. She frequently performed for non-profit organizations, including the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. As Tena Rae's musical talents grew, so did her interest in country music. She was especially drawn to Dolly Parton, the most significant influence on her musical development. She sang at The Great Caruso of Houston with famous Howard Hartman and began writing her own songs. She was the lead actress in a music video for Vince Gill and Rodney Crowell, and she was the opening act at a Trisha Yearwood July 4th concert in Friendswood. Today she performs in many venues, and is often part of the Texas Music Opry circuit. Tena Rae's first CD, titled Tena Rae, was released in 2004 by Nashville producer Bobby Terry. This launched a multitude of concerts and public appearances around the country. The album and it's single, Every Time, received rave reviews from radio audiences and music commentators: "A lot of albums have only a couple of truly standout tunes, but Tena's CD is loaded with great songs sung greatly.' Larry Holden, Country Weekly, Jan. 20, 2004 "Her vocals, the production, and the melody are first rate.' Robert K. Oermann, Music Row Magazine, Jan. 2004 "Many performers, who have been in the music business for most of their lives, lack the range and power that Tena Rae has. She sings with confidence. It's her song in her style - she sings it as if she owns it!" Rick Newman, Silver Threads Music, 2004 Early Reviews of the new CD Embracing Every Moment and the single Nobody's Watching "A captivating beat with fun lyrics that every woman can relate to. A great mixture of background instrumentals. Tena's powerful vocals and noteable musicianship throughout the album prove that she can hold her own among artists such as Faith Hill and Martina McBride." Erin Bukofsky, Editor, Bryan Farrish Music, 2009 "Tena's delivery is dripping with emotion, and her songs are some of the best I've heard. Working with her in the studio is one of life's great joys." Doug Deforest, President/Producer, Lake Paradise Studio, 2009 "Tena Rae has that special 'something' that immediately captivates the listener. She has the unique ability to sell a song with a combination of superior vocals and real emotion. She can be powerful as well as intimate, and her choice of material and production style is beyond reproach."
