It started out as a simple drive down a country road. Oh sure, Hillman was thinking about suicide. Oh sure, the dead woman is in his back seat was goading him on. What was the point? Why bother living? Who am I?      It turns out Coyote has something to say about that. Coyote...and a troll.    "Trolling Lures is a campfire tale on speed, a heady cocktail of remorse, discovery and the quest for redemption, couched in equal parts bedtime story and fever dream. It is surrealism personified, and if you're into that sort of thing, Vernon has a treat for you." (Dark Scribe Magazine)  "The story is wild; creatures and Gods make appearances along with reanimated corpses. Animals, real and Gods make appearances along with reanimated corpses. Animals, real and imagined engage in violence that is horrific but serves the plot well. The story comes across as if told by a dying man hallucinating on morphine, think Alice in Wonderland as enhanced by Timothy Leary." (Horrorworld)"If Harlan Ellison, Richard Matheson and Robert Bloch had a three-way sex romp in a hot tub, and then a team of scientists came in and filtered out the water and mixed the leftover DNA into a test tube, the resulting genetic experiment would most likely grow up into Steve Vernon." In New York Times best-selling author Andrew Gross' propulsive thriller, set amid the drought-stricken oil country of Colorado's beautiful high plains, Ty Hauck makes his long-awaited return rallying beaten-down farmers and ranchers against a giant energy company in a deadly confrontation involving murder, retaliation, and cover-up. Leading a tour down the rapids outside Aspen, Colorado, whitewater guide Dani Haller comes upon the dead body of a close friend. Trey Watkins' death is ruled an accident. Finding evidence that seems to back up her suspicions that it wasn't, she takes her case to Wade Dunn, the local police chief and her ex-stepfather, with whom she shares some unresolved history. Wade insists the case is closed, but Rooster, a hot air balloon operator in town, claims he saw something from the air she should know. When he suddenly dies in a fiery crash, Dani threatens to take her suspicions public, goading Wade into tossing her in jail. When an old friend contacts Ty Hauck and says his daughter is in trouble, he doesn't hesitate to get involved. Together the two step into a sinister scheme running deep beneath the surface of a quiet, Colorado town that has made a deal with the devil to survive. But in the square off between giant energy companies and beaten-down ranchers and farmers, one resource is even more valuable in this drought-stricken region than oil - water. They both will kill for it. One Mile Under is a thrilling rapid run of hair-raising twists and unforeseen turns set against one of the most provocative environmental issues of our time. ungekürzt. A woman's journey of self-awareness and sensual discovery enables her to get in touch with herself and her femininity in a completely new and very gratifying way. As a recent divorcée and newly single mother struggling with the relationship and life she's lost, Amanda is tormented, teasingly, by her younger sister she loves dearly and has always looked up to for her brashness, audacity, and self-confidence Amanda has never known herself. When her incredulous sister suggests the two of them attend "Goddess classes" together, Amanda reluctantly goes along, even as she realizes she's in way over her head and completely out of her own comfort zone. Confronted with the necessity to confirm her own conservative beliefs, the missing ingredients of her past relationship, and the limitations of her own sensual experiences, Amanda unwittingly ventures on a path of self-discovery teaching her to recognize the love for herself she's never quite mastered. Gradually, naturally, Amanda's view of herself and the possibilities around her evolve, due to her sister's embarrassing goading, the class assignments themselves, and even her own curiosities and desire. Amanda's new experiences and courage open her mind to all possibilities and help her learn what it means to be wholly female and quite comfortable with that fact. Letting go of her old ways she'd never before bothered to question, Amanda embraces a new perspective on life, femininity, and self-love. When she finally indulges in her own intense fantasies - even as her mind still struggles to accept them - Amanda discovers just what her life has been missing. Surprisingly intimate and undeniably sweet, Amanda's Awakening is beautiful, affecting, and unforgettable. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Me. I am now the proud owner of the cleanest floor in the UK, and possibly the world! I just couldn't stop, it's a totally gripping and absorbing dramatisation. It was fascinating listening, especially as a long standing fan of LJ Ross' DCI Ryan series, and the idea of giving listeners the back story to how the team came together is inspired. A standing ovation for The Infirmary.” – Melanie, Audibl Language: English. Narrator: Tom Bateman, Bertie Carvel, Hermione Norris, Kevin Whately. Together, Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton formed the most important partnership in the history of women's rights in America. The women worked seamlessly, with Stanton providing the forceful ideology and Anthony providing the tireless advocacy. Stanton would later characterize their relationship, "It is often said, by those who know Miss Anthony best, that she has been my good angel, always pushing and goading me to work, and that but for her pertinacity I should never have accomplished the little I have. On the other hand it has been said that I forged the thunderbolts and she fired them. Perhaps all this is, in a measure, true." Despite their partnership, the two women are often remembered quite differently. Stanton is something of an unsung hero in the history of the feminist movement. Though she is still primarily known as an advocate of women's suffrage and is closely linked to the better known Susan B. Anthony, Stanton was shunned by many of her fellow suffragists because her ideas seem too radical and because many were disturbed by her barely Deist view of religion. Over a century after her death, modern feminists tend to overlook Stanton in favor of Anthony, while remembering that Stanton enjoyed taking on the traditional 19th century gender roles of being the mother of a large family and remaining devoted to her husband throughout her life. And while Anthony's comments about abortion are still fiercely debated by pro-life and pro-choice crowds, Stanton held conservative views toward abortion. It's clear that Elizabeth Cady Stanton was very much her own woman, certainly a fitting description that she would not have wanted any other way. Fighting for Women's Suffrage chronicles the lives and partnership of the two women, examining their ideologies, advocacy, and writings. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Lu Anne Martucci. I had heard of crystal healing all of my life but I assumed that it was quackery. A friend, who was a believer, asked me to take a look and find the scientific basis of crystal healing. My career has been in aerospace engineering so he thought I could surely find the scientific basis for something in which he so strongly believed. I felt that I had to check it out for my friend. I realized that any scientific basis for crystal healing would have to require some sort of exchange of energy between the crystal and our human body. I evaluated several types of crystals and found that the amethyst crystal had the best measurable energy field with the most available data. I knew from Einstein's famous equation E=MC squared that our bodies are basically two kinds of matrices: one of matter (M) which is our flesh and bone, and one of energy (E) which has a measurable electromagnetic field. (C is the speed of light.) I knew that advocates of crystal healing called this field our aura. The basic objective was then to find a mechanism that could enable our bodies to receive an energy transmission from a radiating crystal. I read the Vedas of the ancient Hindu religion and learned their beliefs regarding chakras and especially the chakra they call the third eye. I investigated this third eye and learned that our ancient ancestors did indeed have a third eye that could sense vibrations from their environment. Some primitive creatures still living today have third eyes. Further investigations revealed that our ancestor's third eye had evolved to our pineal gland. I then learned that our pineal gland secretes a hormone that has become the major director of our daily lives. I did not need any further goading from my friend to try to put this information together and compare it with the experiences reported by crystal healing advocates down through the ages. I found the possible scientific basis for crystal healing and I describe my ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Jon Louis Chaus.
