    Graziella Pareto (1889-1973)
    G. Pareto studierte in Mailand und gab ihr Bühnendebüt 1906 in der Heimatstadt Barcelona als Micaela (Carmen) und 1908 in Madrid als Amina (La sonnambula). Nach Auftritten an versch. Theatern Italiens debütierte sie 1914 an der Scala als Gilda (Rigoletto). Sie trat in Paris, London, Wien, St. Petersburg und Chicago auf und war lange mit dem Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires verbunden (1909-27). Zu ihren besten Rollen gehörten: Rosina, Norina, Lucia, Juliette, Ophélie, Leila und Lakmé.

    Der kanad. Tenor Simoneau trat regelmäßig in Lakmé an den Variétés Lyriques auf, meist an der Seite seiner Frau Pierrette Alarie. 1943 gab er beim Montréal Festival unter Sir Th. Beecham sein Mozart-Debüt (Nozze). Ab 1949 sang Simoneau an der Opéra Comique in Paris, mit Gastspielen in ganz Europa. Neben Mozart wurde der (frz.) Liedgesang sein Schwerpunkt.     American baritone Marcus DeLoach has been hailed by Anthony Tommasini of The New York Times as 'a fine baritone who puts words across with clarity and naturalness.' One of the leading performers of contemporary music today, he has established himself in the areas of opera, concert, and cross-over. Most recently he returned to the New York Philharmonic Orchestra for performances of Sciarrone TOSCA with Lorin Maazel in Avery Fisher Hall, made his debut as The French Ambassador OF THEE I SING for the Bard Summerscape Festival production, and sang Nilakantha LAKMÉ for Tulsa Opera. In 2009/2010 seasons he will make his debut at Teatro Comunale di Bolzano (Italy) as Jean in Philippe Boesmans' JULIE, Ebn-Hakia IOLANTA at Kentucky Opera, Schaunard LA BOHÈME Hawaii Opera and the Bard Summerscape Festival as Maurevert LES HUGUENOTS. Mr. DeLoach made his debut at Seattle Opera as Schaunard LA BOHÈME in 2007 and received critical acclaim that same year for his Opera Ireland (Dublin) debut as a "powerfully convincing" Joseph De Rocher in Jake Heggie's DEAD MAN WALKING. Mr. DeLoach was a principal artist of New York City Opera from 2000-2006 where he sang the roles of Count Almaviva LE NOZZE DI FIGARO, Satyr and Citheron PLATÉE, Slim OF MICE AND MEN, Don Alvaro IL VIAGGIO A REIMS, Schaunard LA BOHÈME, and many others. He has performed with Central City Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, Nashville Opera, Opera Santa Barbara, Boston Lyric Opera, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Tulsa Opera, American Opera Projects, The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, and others. With a deep commitment to the creation and promotion of contemporary vocal music Mr. DeLoach has created principal roles in the world premiers of Wiesman's/Hoiby's DARKLING Beeferman's THE RAT LAND, Drattell's LILITH and MARINA: A CAPTIVE SPIRIT and Paul Schoenfield's THE MERCHANT AND THE PAUPER. In 2006, he authored his first libretto for Jeff Grace's opera THE TRAIN RIDE presented by the American Opera Projects and as a composer he has written MOOCH THE MESSY an opera for children based on the book by Marjorie Weinman Sharmat. He has recorded several CDs of modern operatic works for Naxos including Scott Wheeler's THE CONSTRUCTION OF BOSTON and SCENES FROM JEWISH OPERAS 2 with Gerard Schwartz and the Seattle Symphony. In concert he has appeared with THE NEW YORK PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA under the baton of Maestros Riccardo Muti and Lorin Maazel as well as numerous appearances with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and the Marilyn Horne Foundation. In1997 Mr. DeLoach was unanimously voted the first place winner of London's inaugural WIGMORE HALL INTERNATIONAL SONG COMPETITION and went on to give a critically acclaimed recital debut there in 1999. Of his singing, Hilary Finch of The London Times has written, 'A well-groomed voice, a flair for programme shaping, a fervent desire to communicate, and, above all, that elusive fusion of instinct and understanding which sparks a quality of imagination transcending mere accomplishment.' Adding to the credits of his cross-over career, in 2004 he joined the acclaimed rock group TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA for their rock opera 'Christmas Eve and Other Stories' in a tour which included Madison Square Garden and the Fleet Center performing for an estimated audience of one quarter million. Mr. DeLoach holds both Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from The Juilliard School. He has also attended The Britten-Pears School, New England Conservatory, and The Music Academy of the West.
