After Pentangle split in 1973, Bert Jansch returned to his prolific solo career but missed playing in a group context. The Bert Jansch Conundrum came into existence as the 1970s waned. Jansch recorded a solo album called A Rare Conundrum in 1977, with mandolinist Rod Clements and fiddler Mike Piggott as supporting players. When Piggott was unable to go out on a Scandinavian tour, Martin Jerkins hired on to play violin on the dates. They hit it off and Nigel Portman-Smith came aboard to play bass

2013 EP from the critically-lauded Indie septet. Following on from their critically acclaimed New Moore Island' EP, The Mariner's Children return their Sycamore EP, as devastating and as poignantly beautiful as their last. Hinging on the themes of love and death, songwriter Benedict Rubinstein explores the relationships between these experiences and how both can distort logic. The Mariner's Children include members of Peggy Sue, Laura Marling, Sons of Noel And Adrian, Alessi's Ark, and Eyes & No Eyes. Drawing inspiration from Chris Taylor (Grizzly Bear)'s approach to production, Angels of Light, and Pentangle amongst others, their music has, at the same time, all the immense instrumentation of Arcade Fire and the subtlety of the likes of Iron & Wine and Bonnie 'Prince' Billy.

A wave of new ideas from Italian Vocal Jazz: DANCE YOUR WAY TO HEAVEN Eleven originals for the third CD by Martha J. and Francesco Chebat After the success of her previous albums, Martha J. and Francesco Chebat are back with a new, interesting work. Dance your way to Heaven, the third CD that the Italian singer produced with pianist and composer Francesco Chebat, starts from jazz atmospheres but soon leaves classic rhythms and melodies behind, to explore different creative worlds and try out new ways. Dance your way to Heaven is a creative album, with a European, warm and elegant sound. It reminds the mix of genres of the British group Pentangle, or some songs by Joni Mitchell, with some reminiscence of the jazz fusion of the Return to Forever, together with melodic suggestions that makes you think about Depeche Mode. Martha J. and Francesco Chebat chose the classic jazz trio to produce this CD, but the songs and the arrangements are not related to any standard jazz rhythm, except the clear reference to jazz waltz with the song 'The Never-ending Dance' and to bossa nova with the song 'Windy Day'. Dance your way to Heaven is far from the usual vocal jazz atmospheres, it refers to harmonies, melodies and rhythms different from swing, keeping in mind the complexity of modern jazz. This album is fresh and spontaneous, and makes immediately enjoyable songs that are not as plain as they might seem. The songs describe a path between dream and reality, with a sound that touches souls and catches attention from the start. All songs are composed by Francesco Chebat, while Martha J. wrote the lyrics. With them, Roberto Piccolo on double bass, Stefano Bertoli on drums and Cisco Portone on percussions and cajon.
