Zwei Legenden gemeinsam auf Tour. Zwei der so genannten ?anderen bands?, geboren Ausgangs der Achtziger im brodelnden Ground Zero eines agonierenden Systems. FDIO kamen aus Dresden und dessem avantgardistischen Umfeld. Sie galten als gefährlich und provokant, ihre Konzerte waren eher inszenierte Performances, sie mischten Theaterbühnen und Vernissagen auf. Die Art aus Leipzig waren Postpunks und als solche dem Dunkel ebenso verpflichtet wie der Rebellion. Sie waren bestens vernetzt in der aufmüpfigen Messestadt, wo sich in Kellern und Hinterhäusern allmählich zusammenbraute, was dann im Oktober 1989 auf der Straße explodierte. Schon ein Jahr vorher hatten die Tanzböden an der Pleiße beim Art-Hit ?Wide Wide World? gebebt, jener Punk-Rock-Sehnsuchtshymne, die alle kannten, weil sie 1000e Male auf Tape vervielfältigt worden war. Beide Bands schrieben einen nicht unerheblichen Teil des Soundtracks zu einem dramatischen, aber wenig heroischen Untergang. Sie hatten deutlich verschiedene Ansätze, doch beide waren gleichermaßen zwingend: anarchische Düsternis kann aufregend vielfarbig schillern. Im Wendejahr durften Die Art endlich eine LP veröffentlichen, mit ?(I Love You) Marian? hatten sie einen richtigen Hit und schickten sich an, den Osten zu erobern. Sie kamen sogar ziemlich weit, doch es gelang am Ende gottlob nicht. Statt dessen erfreut sich eine treue Gemeinde an einem guten Dutzend gültiger Alben.Die FREUNDE DER ITALIENISCHEN OPER waren von Anfang an in jeder Note das Gegenteil von mehrheitstauglich, obwohl ihrem kultbehafteten Debüt ?Um Thron und Liebe? von Kennern ein gehöriger Schräg-Pop-Appeal bescheinigt wurde.In all den Jahren danach verloren Die Art-Mastermind Makarios und Chef-Opernfreund Ray van Zeschau einander nicht aus den Augen. Unvergessen das gemeinsame Konzert im Dresdner Gare de la lune im Jahr 2004. Nun die gemeinsame Tour. Die Art spielt wieder in stabiler Besetzung. An Makarios? Seite ist Gitarrist Thomas ?Gumpi? Gumprecht nahezu von Beginn an dabei. Außerdem Conrad ?Conne? Hoffmann am Bass und der von den ?Fliehenden Stürmen? bekannte Schlagwerker Jens ?Jeans? Hallbauer. Bei den Freunden neben Ray van Zeschau zwei bekannte Akteure aus Leipzig: Basser Rajko Gohlke war früher bei TAM (Think About Mutation) und ist heute vor allem als festes Mitglied von Knorkator bekannt. Joey A. Vaising Gitarrist und ebenfalls Ex-TAM, und THE TISHVAISINGS immerhin zu John Peel geschafft haben. Heute ist er u.a. mit The Sonic Boom Foundation aktiv. An der zweiten Gitarre agiert Tex Morton (Sunny Domestozs) am Schlagzeug Boris Israel Fernandez (Los Twang Marvels). Die Konzerte stehen unter dem von Ray van Zeschau sehr (selbst)bewusst gewählten Titel: ?Brüder zur Sonne zur Freiheit?. Besser als mit der Titelzeile dieses alten Arbeiterliedes können ihre Anfänge nicht beschrieben werden ? wenn man die Ironie versteht, die immer hinter allem steht.Seit ihren Anfängen sind inzwischen mehr als 3 Jahrzehnte vergangen. Doch die Wucht der Anarchie und Melancholie, die von diesen beiden Kapellen ausgeht, ist bis heute ungebrochen.
