The Road , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 294min
In The Road, Jack London embraces the concepts of unconfined individualism and Darwinism through his autobiographical account of his time riding the rails of Canada and the United States. The author of White Fang, The Call of the Wild, and Sea Wolf, relays the time leading up to turning point in his life - a perfunctory trial and a 30-day imprisonment in the Erie County Penitentiary for the crime of vagrancy - an experience so degrading that he turned to a career in writing. This tale of rugged individualism influenced Jack Kerouac and inspired his tale, On the Road. Simultaneously autobiographical and instructional, The Road wryly presents a way of life that embodies wanderlust and the soul's search for true freedom. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: T. Aline Bouvy. Cruising Bye
Aline Bouvy's catalogue takes the form of loitering, in that it is as much about sexual vagrancy and police patrols as stray dogs and queer flirtations. On the horizon of this poetic, transgressive deviation, we spy the utopia of a fluid sexuality which the visual artist assimilates less with pragmatic LGBT militancy than a permanent critique of the aesthetic and health codes which society uses to keep our bodies in check and contains its desires. Anticipating the end of mortifying inhibitions, her artistic approach undertakes an unbridled eroticisation of our environment by incorporating rundown materials, decadent postures and disused territories. Her multidisciplinary palette, alternating thermoformed Plexiglas, inlaid linoleums and remote-controlled vehicles, surprises the public through its infringement of good taste and its disregard for taboos.- Shop: buecher

The Road (MP3-Download)
The Road is an autobiographical memoir by Jack London, first published in 1907. It is London's account of his experiences as a hobo in the 1890s, during the worst economic depression the United States had experienced up to that time. He describes his experiences hopping freight trains, "holding down" a train when the crew is trying to throw him off, begging for food and money, and making up extraordinary stories to fool the police. He also tells of the thirty days that he spent in the Erie County Penitentiary, which he described as a place of "unprintable horrors," after being "pinched" (arrested) for vagrancy. In addition, he recounts his time with Kelly's Army, which he joined up with in Wyoming and remained with until its dissolution at the Mississippi River.- Shop: buecher

Titus Alone , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 656min
In this final part of the trilogy, we follow Titus, now almost 20, as he escapes from the Castle, flees its oppressive Ritual, and becomes lost in a sandstorm. Helped by the owner of a travelling zoo, Muzzlehatch, and his ex-lover Juno, Titus ends up stranded in a big, bustling city. No one there having heard of Gormenghast, the general consensus is that the boy is deranged, and with no papers, he's soon arrested for vagrancy. But there are a few people who believe in his story, or at least who are intrigued by it, and they try to help him. And now Titus, the deserter, the traitor, longs for his home, and looks for it all the time to prove, if only to himself, that Gormenghast is truly real. The third of the best-selling Gormenghast trilogy. Now available as an audiobook. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Saul Reichlin. The Winged Horse: A Western Story , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 525min
He was still a young man, but he'd used that handful of years effectively, building a bad reputation that spanned the West, his villainy taking different forms everywhere it took roost. Denver knew him as the Doctor; Texans called him Montana; and folks in Idaho called him Texas. On account of his youth, most everywhere else called him the Lonesome Kid. But when he finally gets arrested for vagrancy, he tells the sheriff his name is Alfred Lamb. Will that identity stick when he tries to help a rancher battle off a pack of cattle rustlers? With a lengthy career in pulps, comics, and early cinema, and with over 200 full-length Western novels to his credit, including Destry Rides Again and Montana Rides and the iconic Dr. Kildare series, Max Brand's action-filled stories of adventure and heroism in the American West continue to entertain audiences throughout the world. ungekürzt.
