Submitted for the 1978 Academy Awards - Best Foreign Film, Wim Verstappen's PASTORALE 1943 is a war drama centered on the Dutch resistance during World War II, and also features the debut of Renée Soutendijk. Painter turned director Paul de Lussanet's romantic psychological drama MYSTERIES, based on the world famous novel by the Norwegian nobel prize winner Knut Hamsun and shot by renowned cinematographer Robby Müller, also stars Rita Tushingham and David Rappaport. Filmed and released right after Sylvia became one of the world's biggest stars as EMMANUELLE (1974), Sigi Rothemund's 1974 film JULIA is a German sex comedy drama, with Sylvia as a young boy's first love, foreshadowing her later U.S. commercial hit PRIVATE LESSONS.     Corry Brokken wurde am 03.12.1932 in Breda geboren. Nach der Lehre als Zahnarzthelferin tourte sie mit dem John Kristel Orkest durch die Niederlande. Das belgische Label Ronnex gab ihr 1954 den ersten Plattenvertrag. 1956 trat Corry Brokken für die Niederlande beim Eurovision Song Contest mit dem Lied Voorgoed voorbij an, das zwar nicht gewann, aber dennoch ein großer Erfolg wurde. 1957 gewann sie mit Net als toen den Eurovision Song Contest in Frankfurt. Sie veröffentlichte in den Folgejahren mehrere Singles auf deutsch und niederländisch, sowie ein Album in englisch, das aber zunächst nicht veröffentlicht wurde. 1960 feierte sie mit der deutschen und der niederländischen Fassung des Lieds Milord einen großen Erfolg. Mit Er sah aus wie ein Lord und La Mamma hatte sie in Deutschland und mit Mijn ideaal in den Niederlanden weitere Hits. 1967 bis 1970 übernahm sie die Moderation der TV-Sendung Varietézauber im WDR. Mitte der 70er Jahre beendete Corry Brokken ihre Karriere als Sängerin, um ein Jurastudium zu absolvieren und fortan als Richterin tätig zu sein. Sie verstarb am 31.05.2016 in Laren, Nordholland.
