Formed in Blackpool (UK) by brothers Larry and Vin Cassidy in 1978, the band were initially mentored by Joy Division, and went on to record four albums with Factory Records between 1980 and 1986. (LP) The Jayhawks sind seit Mitte der 80er Jahre eine der bekanntesten amerikanischen Alternative-Country-Bands, deren neues Album von Peter Buck (REM) produziert wurde.The Jayhawks sind schon seit Mitte der 80er Jahre eine bekannte US-amerikanische Alternative-Country-Band, deren neues Album nun von Peter Buck (REM) produziert wurde. Die Band fand sich 1985 in Minnesota zusammen. Die Gründungsmitglieder waren Mark Olson (akustische Gitarre und Gesang), Gary Louris (E-Gitarre und Gesang), Marc Perlman (Bass) und Thad Spencer (Drums). Ihr selbstbetiteltes Debütalbum erschien 1986. Mehr Popularität erreichten sie mit Blue Earth 1987. Zu dieser Zeit zeigte die von Olson geschriebene Musik sehr starke Einflüsse von Rootsrock und Country. Ihe 1992er Album Hollywood Town Hall war sehr erfolgreich und gilt heute als eines der klassischen Alben des Alternative Country. Die Band tourte ausgiebig und nahm dann das Album Tomorrow The Green Grass (1995) auf. Der Einfluss von geradlinigem Rock im ironischen Big Star, Psychedelia, akustischen Elementen z. B. im Titelstück und sogar einige Dubelemente wurden vermischt, während die Country-Orientierung des Anfangs in den Hintergrund trat. Rainy Day Music (2003) war wieder wenig produziert und akustisch, wie in den Songs Tailspin, Stumbling Through the Dark, You Look So Young. Stephen McCarthy, Ex-Mitglied der Long Ryders kam zur Band und spielte Pedal Steel, Lap Steel und Banjo auf dem Album sowie E-Gitarre bei Liveshows. Olson ist nun nicht mehr dabei. TRACKS: 1. Touring and working with bands like Paradise Lost, The Gathering, Autopsy. Making albums like the VOYAGE embracealbum. A band today a little bit more known as Within Temptation. Too many things to mention. MORFINE MACHINE is the result of years working in the studio trying to create something cool that isnt done like this before. Mixing heavy Black Sabbath riffs with psychedelics from the 70's. Like Pink Floyd had a big crash with the sounds of today. MORFINE MACHINE 'alienation' is a sonic trip from a band that is trying to combine the best of the old with the new.
