In her dynamic new devotional, Godly Freedom, Bible teacher and best-selling author Rebecca Livermore taps into the truths penned long ago by the apostle Paul to the church in Corinth. To put it bluntly, the Corinthians were a big hot mess. Among other things, they dealt with issues such as: Sexual sin Chaotic worship Lawsuits between believers Many other types of division Paul caught wind of the troubles, and wrote them a very straightforward letter - which we now know as the book of 1 Corinthians - to deal with the issues. When you consider what a mess the church in Corinth was, it's easy to stand in judgment of them - until you realize that they were people just like us. That's the bad news. The good news is that the principles laid out in the 24 devotionals in this book provide modern day applications to the truths laid out in 1 Corinthians. Applying these lessons will keep you from making the mistakes the Corinthians made. Each devotional includes a passage of scripture from 1 Corinthians, a story or illustration related to the scripture, a prayer, and suggestions for applying the truths. This book will take you on a journey - a journey to Corinth, but even more importantly, a journey to becoming a more mature believer in Jesus. It is for any Christian that desires a closer walk with God. Rebecca Livermore is a best-selling author, blogger, and the cofounder of Ordinary Believer, a ministry focused on helping "everyday" Christians apply biblical truths in meaningful ways. She has been married to her husband, Chuck, for more than 30 years and is the mother of two young adults who affectionately nicknamed her "Hot Rod Mama". ungekürzt. Language: English. This book bluntly states the so-called secrets of achieving anything you desire, whether it's accumulating wealth, attracting a partner, or being/doing anything at all. In contrast to the usual get-rich-quick traps in schemes which promise to make you wealthy within six weeks or six months, The Code defines money and other manifestations and how they're connected to the state of your mind. And that's it. There's no multi-step financial or other dubious strategy that cures insomnia. Most readers know that they should pay off their credit cards each month and that they should save, yada yada yada. That's not what this book is regurgitating. Anyone can use this book to be and do whatever they desire and indeed, anything else they wish to manifest during this brief stay on the planet. You will finally understand exactly WHY a lot of the advice you're given (by parents, wealth gurus, and some woohoo authors will tell you) actually works. No graphics or drawings. Just in-your-face truths that will make you say "aha" and "finally", having wasted so much time, wading knee-deep in all the other idea ideas out there. The main difference between this book and all the others? You don't need to be smart. You don't need to be an economist, math wiz, or have cousins who've made millions in real estate. You just need to think in a certain way. This book explains the mechanics of how thinking in a certain way works. Many people simply need to know why this shit works and finally you have it explained to you. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Paul Stefano. Does your company go above and beyond to give companies a thrilling experience? Are you loved by your customers? Are your employees empowered to do whatever it takes to delight your customers? If not, then you face the risk that your customers will feel that your company is just ho hum—or, as we bluntly put it—your company sucks. But there’s an alternative. Apple, W Hotels, Manolo Blahnik, Tiffany, Walmart, The Economist and Cheesecake Factory. What do these companies have in common? They have all made the transition from being liked to loved and then have made the quantum leap to leaving their customers and clients thrilled. It starts with managing your business beyond the traditional, the ordinary and the acceptable—the good, kind and delightful—to an extreme state in which a company’s customers are wildly devoted to the business. Customers will brag about it as if it is their own and have a level of allegiance that turns their relationships with the company into annuities. Surprisingly, very few companies really think about the customer. But the real question is, how did they do it? Author Mark Stevens walks readers through the process step by step. Starting with why companies rarely “thrill” their customers, why the element of surprise is necessary, learning what isn’t taught in business school, and how to infuse your business with the “thrill” factor. Mark Stevens is a bestselling author, CEO of MSCO, a results-driven management and marketing firm, and a popular media commentator on a host of business matters including marketing, branding, management and sales. He has lent his insight to Carl Icahn on Fox Business Network, Associated Press, CNN International and Bloomberg TV to CNBC, MSNBC, NPR and Bloomberg Radio. Stevens also has a wildly successful blog, Unconventional Thinking, ranked among the “Top 6 Marketing Blogs in the World,” by www.blogged.com. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Richard Allen. Fifty years after Betty Friedan unveiled The Feminine Mystique, relations between men and women in America have never been more dysfunctional. If women are more liberated than ever before, why aren't they happier? In this shocking, funny, and bluntly honest tour of today's gender discontents, Andrea Tantaros, one of Fox News' most popular and outspoken stars, exposes how the rightful feminist pursuit of equality went too far, and how the unintended pitfalls of that power trade have made women (and men!) miserable. In a covetous quest to attain the power that men had, women were advised to work like men, talk like men, party like men, and have sex like men. There's just one problem: Women aren't men. Instead of feeling happy with their newfound freedoms, females today are tied up in knots, trying to strike a balance between their natural, feminine, and traditional desires and what modern society dictates - and demands - through the commandments of feminism. Revealing the mass confusion this has caused among both sexes, Tantaros argues that decades of social and economic progress haven't brought women the peace and contentedness they were told they'd gain from their new opportunities. The pressure both to have it all and to put forth the perfectly post-worthy, filtered life for social media and society at large has left women feeling twisted. Meanwhile, in their rightful quest for equality, women have promoted themselves at the expense of their male counterparts, leaving both genders frayed and frustrated. In this candid and humorous romp through the American cultural landscape, Tantaros reveals how gaining respect in the office - where women earned it - made them stop demanding it where they really wanted it: in their love lives. The impact of this power trade has been felt in every way, from sex to salaries, to dating and marriage, to fertility and female friendships, to the personal details they share with each other. As a result, we ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Andrea Tantaros. Audio sample: https://samples.audible.de/bk/harp/004818/bk_harp_004818_sample.mp3. Digital audiobook in aax.

Upon leaving the Constitutional Convention, Benjamin Franklin was asked what sort of government the delegates had created. His reply to the crowd: "A republic, if you can keep it." Now America's most respected governor explains just how close we've come to losing the republic, and how we can restore it to greatness. Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels has been called "the most presidential man in America." He has brought more change to his state in a few years than most see in decades. During his tenure, Daniels turned a $700 million deficit into a billion dollar surplus, balanced Indiana's budget even during the recession, converted its once unattractive business climate into one of the strongest for private sector job growth. The Hoosier state is now a model of good and efficient governance. Its public sector payroll is now the smallest per capita in the nation. And yet services have improved across the board. Even its Bureau of Motor Vehicles -- the ultimate symbol of dysfunctional bureaucracy - has been rated the best in the country. Daniels has done this by focusing on government's core responsibilities, cutting taxes, empowering citizens, and performing what he calls an "old tribal ritual" - spending less money than his state takes in, while distinguishing between skepticism towards big government and hostility towards all government. Unfortunately few politicians have the discipline or courage to follow his lead. And worse, many assume that Americans are too intimidated, gullible or dim-witted to make wise decisions about their health care, mortgages, the education of their kids, and other important issues. The result has been a steady decline in freedom, as elite government experts -- "our benevolent betters", in Daniels' phrase -- try to regulate every aspect of our lives. Daniels bluntly calls our exploding national debt "a survival-level threat to the America we have known. Language: English. Narrator: Mitch Daniels. NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER "Travels with George . . . is quintessential Philbrick-a lively, courageous, and masterful achievement." -The Boston Globe Does George Washington still matter? Bestselling author Nathaniel Philbrick argues for Washington's unique contribution to the forging of America by retracing his journey as a new president through all thirteen former colonies, which were now an unsure nation. Travels with George marks a new first-person voice for Philbrick, weaving history and personal reflection into a single narrative. When George Washington became president in 1789, the United States of America was still a loose and quarrelsome confederation and a tentative political experiment. Washington undertook a tour of the ex-colonies to talk to ordinary citizens about his new government, and to imbue in them the idea of being one thing-Americans. In the fall of 2018, Nathaniel Philbrick embarked on his own journey into what Washington called "the infant woody country" to see for himself what America had become in the 229 years since. Writing in a thoughtful first person about his own adventures with his wife, Melissa, and their dog, Dora, Philbrick follows Washington's presidential excursions: from Mount Vernon to the new capital in New York; a monthlong tour of Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island; a venture onto Long Island and eventually across Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. The narrative moves smoothly between the eighteenth and twenty-first centuries as we see the country through both Washington's and Philbrick's eyes. Written at a moment when America's founding figures are under increasing scrutiny, Travels with George grapples bluntly and honestly with Washington's legacy as a man of the people, a reluctant president, and a plantation owner who held people in slavery. At historic houses and landmarks, Philbrick reports on the reinterpretations at work as he meets reenactors, tour guides, and other keepers of history's flame. He paints a picture of eighteenth-century America as divided and fraught as it is today, and he comes to understand how Washington compelled, enticed, stood up to, and listened to the many different people he met along the way-and how his all-consuming belief in the union helped to forge a nation.

Born to Betty and George Sumrall of New Orleans on February 15, 1913, Lester Frank Sumrall's cold-hearted brawler father considered him an "accident", telling him bluntly, "You weren't supposed to be here." Reared in the Deep South he showed early in life the resourcefulness and leadership attributes that comprised his remarkable 83-year life and 65-year ministry of the Gospel of Christ. At 16, he contracted tuberculosis in both lungs, and for six months lay in bed, daily waxing worse, until one somber day in the fall of 1930 the doctor informed his parents he would die within hours. That night, Lester saw a vision of an empty, open casket just his size waiting for him on one side of his bed and "the biggest Bible in the world" that stretched from the ceiling to the floor on the other. A voice warned, “You must choose.” He responded, “God, if the only way for me to live is to preach - I’ll preach.” When he awoke the next morning he was perfectly well! Three weeks later, Lester left his parents' home in Panama City, Florida, "with no training, no formal preparation, and no guidance from an older preacher", to begin the preaching ministry that would take him to more than 110 countries and lead him to write more than 130 books and study guides. For sheer entertainment, he was unrivaled, but his spiritual depth was manifest in the myriad miracles and supernatural works God operated through this faith-filled and faithful servant of God. This autobiographical look at his extraordinary life and ministry is by turns funny, poignant, and inspiring, chronicling his hilarious beginnings as a teenage pulpiteer to his final work as director of a massive global food outreach to starving children. Dr. Lester Sumrall went home to be with the Lord on April 28, 1996, having labored tirelessly to the last toward his goal of reaching a million people for Christ and leaving behind a legacy and ministry that continues to reach forward with the gosp ungekürzt. This is my no-holds-barred story, the truth in all its gory details. It’s certainly not a romance, although it had its moments.   My life didn’t turn out how I envisioned it, but looking back, I can’t say I regret it either, and I’ll explain the reason, or reasons, for that in my story.  It all went wrong when I was 17 years old. However, it wasn’t all a picnic up to that point, either. Well, nearly 19 years later, and I can tell you it’s true what they say: You learn by your mistakes, and boy, I made a lot of them.   I was pulled through the ringer and left feeling lost, alone, and confused. So much so that I’m sucked deep into my own mind. Lost inside my own mind, I became comfortable; it was a place I could hide. The darkness inside my own mind became my respite, my shelter, and a buffer from the devastation of my own broken dreams. I became trapped there as I searched in circles for answers, surviving but not living. I was torn up by guilt and felt as though I was being punished for perceived faults. Confusion and turmoil became my only companions.   I needed to escape, to start living again, but did I have the strength to crawl out and escape the void? Better yet, did I want to, because if I did, would I still recognize myself?   Travel with me through my earlier life. It may make you uncomfortable as I bluntly describe that time for you, but it’s a form of therapy for me. Whenever memories of my past become too much for me, I now have something to hold onto: my four children.   When the darkness becomes too much, thoughts of them pull me into the light. They were, and still are, my saving grace, my redemption of sorts.  Be warned: Some descriptions are vivid and can be a trigger for sensitive listeners.  Graphic sexual content and language. Suitable for ages 18 and over. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Angela Mannering. Audio sample: https://samples.audible.de/bk/acx0/132729/bk_acx0_132729_sample.mp3. Digital audiobook in aax.
