Vipassana has as its goal the ability to change your heart and mind. It puts you on a path, a way of life that is healthy for body, mind, and spirit. From the healthy way of life, both physical and mental health benefits may flow. But the goal is not any specific physical health or mental health 'fix', but a path of life itself. How one learns to follow the path - and what else begins to happen - is the focus of these public talks given in 2007 by Paul Fleischman in Europe in America, and now finally collected together in one audiobook. These talks, in Boston, Freiberg, Madrid, Vienna, Dublin, and Ghent, mainly to medical professionals and academics, were recorded and transcribed, and are presented in this collection along with several question and answer sessions and a clarification for mindfulness in the context of Vipassana meditation. Author and psychiatrist Paul Fleischman gave these talks in Europe and America in 2007. He gave them to various audiences, and the nature of each audience partly shaped the contents of each talk. For example the Boston talk was to mental health professionals in the USA, and the Freiberg talk was to researchers in Germany. The content of the talks reflect those circumstances. Several question and answer sessions are included. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Paul R. Fleischman MD. Audio sample: https://samples.audible.de/bk/acx0/018724/bk_acx0_018724_sample.mp3. In Inside Studio 54, the former owner takes you behind the scenes of the most famous nightclub in the world, through the crowd, to a place where celebrities, friends, and the beautiful people sip champagne and share lines of cocaine using rolled-up 100-dollar bills. In the early 80s, Mark Fleischman reopened Studio 54, the world's most glamorous and notorious nightclub, after it was closed down by the State of New York. Ten thousand people showed up that night, ready to restart the party that abruptly ended after the raid in 1978 landed its former owners in jail. Inside Studio 54 invites you to revisit the happening scenes of the 1960s, '70s, and '80s, the post-Pill, pre-AIDS era of free love, consequence-free sex, and seemingly endless partying. Following Fleischman as he built connections as a hotel, restaurant, and club owner that lead him to Studio 54. Inside Studio 54 takes the listener from Brazil to the heights of debauchery in the Virgin Islands and finally to New York City. A star-studded thrill ride through decadent and drug-fueled parties at the legendary Studio 54. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: David Colacci. Bull Run was the site of the first battle of the Civil War. This book creates an intimate tapestry of stories from blacks and whites, adults and children, leaders and families from the North and South. Broken dreams and bloodshed take you back to the front lines of the Battle of Bull Run, where common soldiers - not the heroes who grace the covers of history books and are synonymous with the glory of the war - risked their lives. ungekürzt. What's really going on with the environment - in our own backyards and the wider world? Conflicting information is offered by websites, magazines, and documentaries that blur the line between news and opinion. Not every report is reliable; not every interest group is actually composed of concerned citizens. In this dynamic account, award-winning author Paul Fleischman arms teens with the basic tools to uncover vested interests and falsehoods by vetting sources, following the money, and checking references so that they can make informed decisions about what actions to take in the worldwide battle against climate change, overconsumption, and dwindling resources. ungekürzt. Assigned to write an autobiography, high-school senior Robert Radkovitz instead creates a sound portrait of his life as he remembers it. Looking back, he hears his mother's singing, his grandmother's mysteries, Mexican soap operas, Poe, poetry, and, most cherished, the voice of his absent father from a single tape of one of his radio shows. Told in a collage of voices, Seek describes Rob's search for his father, a search pursued not through San Francisco's streets, but through the labyrinth of the airwaves. Psychic readers, baseball announcers, pirate DJs, friends, and teachers join a rich, ringing aural autobiography that's as joyfully comic as it is compelling. ungekürzt. Language: English. Hardy, hired to look into the background of the case, is soon up to his neck in trouble. When his car is blown up and then a friend is killed, Cliff finds himself with a personal stake in the action.
