An exhilarating story of a young Navy SEAL whose relentless faith transformed his life and inspired everyone who knew his courageous story. Battle of the White Apartments (eBook, ePUB)
President Bush declared the war in Iraq "Mission Accomplished" in 2005, but Al-Qaeda had other plans. Money, supplies, and soldiers during the 2006 insurgent uprising were easily funneled from Syria along the dangerous highways of Iraq's Al Anbar Province straight into Baghdad, and the sense of victory quickly flipped for the worse during what was tabbed "Operation Iraqi Freedom." The insurgency violently rocked the world with gruesome and horrific tactics that included well-trained snipers and dastardly roadside bombers who could carefully place explosives in the early morning hours, some charges powerful enough to easily flip a massive seventy-two-ton American Abrams tank. To further install fear, enemy follow on attacks effortlessly crushed responding coalition forces arriving to the horrendous scenes. The situation in Iraq turned dreadful.American solders returned home with severed limbs, scarred beyond belief, or honorably flown to Dover Air Force Base in flag-draped caskets. These were horrible visions that simply traumatized the American public and invoked rage within the ranks. A change of plans was desperately needed and needed quickly. Senior American leadership in Iraq was failing, and a new strategy was desperately needed, specifically in Iraq's dreaded Triangle of Death. The White House and Pentagon were shocked and angered with the tragic and declining progress in Iraq. The president and his top brass agreed with a new challenging plan. This plan would be new strategy involving five additional American combat brigades shuffled throughout Iraq to beef up the fight and return victory that was "slipping sideways" under the command of a skeptical theater commander, an incontrollable four-star general with a strange and confusing plan for victory. Additional Iraqi Police and Iraqi Army were needed as well to fight shoulder to shoulder with Americans, and this was needed quickly without any delay. Iraqi Police and Army recruiting was paramount for this new plan. Supplies were needed, funding for the Iraqi workforce was to be guaranteed, and new Iraqi Police stations with roadside checkpoints were demanded to stop the flow of evil that was freely trucked into Baghdad from Iraq's neighboring country of Syria. The surge became a reality at the tail end of 2006, and American combat units were purged into Baghdad, Ramadi, and beyond in record time. Americans lived, worked, and fought with the Iraqi Police and Iraqi Army. Police stations popped up everywhere. Roadside checkpoints supported police stations and chocked any freedom of movement for the fierce enemy that had once freely killed and mutilated hundreds of Americans and Iraqis over the past fifteen months, and the battle of the White Apartments located in southwest Ramadi was the focal point for victory in Anbar and a massive triumph for the First Armored Division's "Anbar Awakening" that was paired with a company of rugged Indiana Infantry Guardsmen who led the fight with Ramadi's Iraqi Police on that chilly January night. This is a story of the Iraq War, a story of the Iraqi surge and the Cyclone Soldiers that lead it.- Shop: buecher

Prisoner of Fallujah: The Al Anbar Chronicles: First Marine Expeditionary Force, Book 1 , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 319min
Cpl Nicholas Xenakis made two tours to Iraq as a grunt, something he was born to do. When his wife gave him the "me or the Corps" ultimatum, he chose her, but not before he joined the local reserve battery for one last pump. The battery was assigned as a provisional MP company with the mission of convoy duty, something Nick figured would not be as exciting as his grunt tours, but at least he was back in the fight. Convoys from Fallujah to Ramadi and the Green Zone, however, gave him his adrenaline rush and a view of the war he hadn't had before. But when his convoy was hit in Fallujah, Nick faced the most life-threatening and dangerous situation a Marine in Iraq could face, and he would have to face it alone. Prisoner of Fallujah is Book 1 of The Al Anbar Chronicles: First Marine Expeditionary Force - Iraq. However, it can be listened to as a stand-alone book in its own right. Warning: Prisoner of Fallujah contains some vulgar language and some extremely graphic and disturbing descriptions of torture and violence. Some of the views expressed by characters in the book are not "politically correct" and do not necessarily reflect the views of the author or follow Marine Corps policy. ungekürzt. Language: English. Harley's Achilles: The Rock Series, Book 3 , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 360min, (USK 18)
Rock star Harley Payne seems to have it all. Skyrocketing career. More money than he'll ever need. And women. Lots and lots of women. But "seems" is the operative word. Because beneath the material trappings of his fame, Harley is deeply in pain. Reeling from the death of his soldier brother, and apparently nonexistent to his parents, every day is an emotional battle for Harley. When Mac Collins, owner of Mac's Security, puts Achilles Castellanos squarely into Harley's orbit as a bodyguard, Harley's world tips on its axis in more ways than one. Under the huge bodyguard's surveillance 24/7, Harley's love life takes a nose dive. Surprisingly, Harley doesn't care because he's starting to realize his bodyguard has become to mean more to him than just muscle. Former Delta Force leader Achilles Castellanos lost an entire team, as well as his first love, in an ambush in Ramadi. Clawing his way back to the surface has been hell, but Achilles' iron will has dragged him from the depths of despair. Achilles can't miss the crippling pain that shadows his new charge, heavy metal band member Harley Payne. What began as just another bodyguard job has become his very reason for breathing when Achilles finds himself falling for the rambunctious Harley. Sparks fly when the men travel to Greece, but a startling revelation could ruin everything before Aphrodite even gets a chance to give them her blessing. ungekürzt. Language: English. Trigger Men: Shadow Team, Spider-Man, the Magnificent Bastards, American Combat Sniper , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 459min
Combat veteran and author Hans Halberstadt takes listeners deeper inside the elusive world of snipers than ever before, from recruitment and training to the brutality of the killing fields. Shadow Team is probably the most productive sniper team in American military history, accounting for 276 confirmed kills in a six-month span with no casualties of its own. The team's leader made what was - and may still be - the longest range kill with a 7.62mm rifle. For the first time ever, team members explain what it's like to kill a man and what it takes to become one of the elite. The tragic tale of Headhunter Two is altogether different. This four-man sniper team from a regiment known within the Corps as the Magnificent Bastards was killed in 2004 in Ramadi, Iraq. Their deaths not only caused a reevaluation of sniper tactics and techniques but also created a desire for vengeance that was exacted nearly two years later in dramatic fashion. Based on hundreds of hours of exclusive interviews, Halberstadt gets inside the sniper mind and shows how snipers think and interact with each other, how missions are planned and executed, how the weapons work, and even what happens when a bullet finally strikes its target. There are only a few hundred snipers from all the services put together in combat at any one time, making this true inside story a rare and important event. ungekürzt. Language: English.
