Manuscript 512 , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 502min
For centuries, would-be explorers have examined a document written in 1753 rumored to hold the key to locating the so-called Lost City of Z, a fortified settlement containing many treasures and built entirely of gold. Thought to be buried somewhere within the Mato Grosso region of the Amazon rain forest, the lure of the vanished riches has long proven deadly to treasure seekers who brave the forbidding wilderness and mysterious creatures in search of it.Disgraced historian Dr. Hunter Winslow, fired from a lucrative professorship for stealing rare documents in order to gain a competitive edge over his colleagues, thinks the key to Manuscript 512 lies not in its words, but in its paper itself. The only problem is that to confirm his hypothesis means to destroy the document, something the Brazil National Library in Rio de Janeiro will never allow. But old habits die hard, and Hunter knows his way around a special collections room. After a brazen theft that triggers an international manhunt, the rogue historian is able to reveal the document’s secrets in a way no one else can or ever will be able to again - by using its physical properties to reveal missing sections that had supposedly been irreversibly damaged.Armed with this new information, Hunter embarks on an expedition to the deepest Amazon to put to rest the mystery of the lost city once and for all. But while Hunter is looking for the fabled treasure, the long arm of the law is looking for him. Will they catch up to him before he can locate the treasure of a thousand lifetimes, or will he become as lost as the city he seeks? ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: David Loving. Our Miss Brooks: Boynton Blues, Hörbuch, Digital, 595min
Eve Arden stars as the tart-tongued Constance Brooks, a dedicated English teacher at Madison High School. Before and after the bell rings, Miss Brooks turns her thoughts from language to love. Indulging in her perpetual pursuit of bashful biology teacher Philip Boynton (Jeff Chandler), Connie finds herself making his favorite stew, conspiring to make him sick, and pretending to be his mother! She even considers compromising her principles (and her principal)! Miss Brooks has a rival for the attentions of that handsome specimen: Miss Daisy Enright (Mary Jane Croft). She's a good cook, a master of the thinly-veiled insult, and every bit as competent and ruthless as Connie! These 20 digitally restored and remastered episodes co-star Gale Gordon as the blustery, autocratic Osgood Conklin; Richard Crenna as the ever-exuberant Walter Denton; and Jane Morgan as absent-minded landlady Mrs. Davis. The Man Who Lived My Life: A Neurosurgeon's Trials of Job , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 560min
A true story of one man's life from riches to rags to richesIn this compelling memoir, neurosurgeon Ronald (Yisrael) Bernstein was raised as an orthodox Jew by loving parents in the suburbs of Chicago. He went from the hallowed halls of the University of Chicago during the Viet Nam war era to a neurosurgical residency and professorship at Northwestern University. Eventually he settled in the Southwest where he had a thriving medical practice and became the owner of a hospital. In his climb to prestige and riches, Dr. Bernstein accumulated the American dream: an attractive wife, three beautiful children, exotic cars, and a mansion by the time he was 50 years old.But only a few short years later everything came crashing down when he was falsely accused of malpractice in a widely publicized lawsuit. Although the case was eventually settled out of court, the damage was done. That was the final impetus to permanently move to Israel. He was supposed to be in Haifa living in a comfortable condominium overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, but more than $4 million worth of his possessions were stolen by the moving company, including a concert grand player piano and a Ferrari.Dr. Bernstein was destitute and living in the cramped office of a private airport hangar with only his dog and an air mattress purchased from Walmart. This theft was the last act in a gigantic plummet he endured. Altogether he lost so much more than his wealth and possessions. He lost his marriage, his relationship with his daughter, his health, and his career.Although The Man Who Lived My Life embeds Jewish traditions in its storytelling, it is not meant to be a religious book. Rather, it is a human story told by a Jewish man. It is a story for those who have loved and lost, those who need encouragement when confronting overwhelming misfortune. It's an inspirational story, and like the hero in the Book of Job, Yisrael Bernstein, as he now goes by, emerges triump ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: David A. Nickerson. Foundation of Psychology as a Scientific Discipline , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 976min
It seems as if most of behavioral science students and researchers seem to be partial to general psychology. Most of us possess of a psychology background making understanding of the study of behavior and mind simpler. Still, evil satanic three headed dog warriors seem to drive psychology into our brains in the application of the complex task of gaining expertise within the domain. The results are rather messy. Our weapon in understanding psychology is the computer permitting us to circumvent the difficulty of any lack of understanding. The computer to a three-headed dog satanic warrior possesses a similar effect of catnip on the cat. This effect is a ceaseless dribble and purring creature rubbing its head along the ground. The downside of the computer is one can make an idiot of him or herself should they not possess an adequate understanding. Despite this the computer can be a tool of utility within the psychology chest. The aim of my book is to create a balance among practice and theory. The goal is to make of utility the computer as a teaching implement for psychological concepts in the hope you can establish a greater knowledge of practice and theory. Many books, it seems, attempt to establish an impression of the right and wrong way of viewing psychology. Although recommendations which are within the limits of the senseless destruction of rain forests, the hope is to provide background in the theoretical concept of psychology permitting you to create decisions about how to best view the domain. A second aim of the book is to create the only psychology book you will ever need. It is my hope that my book can be your friend during your first year at the university level carrying through to your professorship. The book is very much no nonsense, like me, with the first three chapters covering self-psychology, social psychology, and biological psychology. This is followed by chapters on motivation and historical figures within the domain. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Steven G. Carley. The Secret of Spiritual Rest: Spiritual Secrets, Book 2 , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 360min
It has taken me nearly five years to write this book. When I first began to think and pray for the book, one of the prayer topics was, “Lord, grant that the manuscript be finished by 30th September, 1986." I wrote a bit of it then, but found out that if I continued to write, I would present good theories, some of which were not true in my life. I decided to wait. I came back to the book in 1988 and made a little progress, but was compelled by honesty to stop the book, so that I might only write what, in my experience, was real in my life. The Lord has been very good to me in the last three years. He has led me into the experience of spiritual rest in many dimensions that have included our ministry and my promotion to professorship at the University. One month ago I felt that I could write the book and it would be true. It was as if a heavy burden was upon me to write. Many believers gave themselves to pray unceasingly for me as I wrote. I was not quite prepared for some of the things that I have seen in these last weeks about the Body of Christ and the need to be at peace with each believer. However, God has led me. My eyes have been opened, and I have begun to carry out the needed restitution. This morning I went out to seek a brother with whom I have had a problem for a long time now. I asked for his forgiveness and he forgave me and we prayed together. He asked God to forgive him for his own wrong. I went to a second brother, but he was not at home. There is a third brother with whom I will seek to be reconciled this week. I can no longer recrucify the Lord by not removing every barrier that I can remove, which stands between me and anyone who confesses that Jesus is Lord. I believe that this is only the beginning, and that the Holy Spirit will lead me on and on, until I am able to truly say: “I know no one on earth who confesses that Jesus is Lord with whom I am not in fellowship as far as it depends on me.” That is one aspect of spiritual rest. Nobody Wants To Be You
Der kalifornische Musiker und bildende Künstler lebt seit 30 Jahren in Nürnberg, tourt oft John Prine und hatte sogar mal ein Stück in der Serie "Weeds" - he has won various visual art awards, participated in numerous exhibitions, led art seminars, and took on a visiting professorship at the Akademie der Bildenden Ku¿nste (aka, Germany's Academy of Fine Arts). In 2 012 , he published an overview of his work titled "Art Pussies Fear This Book." Nobody wants to be you, 5 song EP. marks Reeder's fourth release on Oh Boy Records, a relationship formed after Reeder sent a burned CD to John Pr ine in the early 2 000's. Prine listened, signed Reeder to his label, toured with him four times, and released all three of Reeder's previous records: Dan Reeder (2004), Sweetheart (2005), and This New Century (2009). The albums garnered glowing reviews, publications like No Depression deemed him "brilliant," and NPR's Fresh Air compared Reeder to Prine himself. The New Yorker's Ben Greenman coined him as "one of the foremost outsider artists in modern folk" and he was featured on the Emmy award-winning show Weeds ("Work Song"). While Nobody wants to be you is the precursor to a full-length (set for a 2018 release), the EP isn't lacking in tenacity and holds true to his distinct style: slightly quirky, painstakingly honest, and undeniably witty. Compared to its predecessors, his latest work delivers a brighter, more energised tone, full of what Reeder calls "easy piano." This can arguably be heard on the first single,- Shop: odax

Simonacci, M: Patterns In A Chromatic Field-Music For Cello
American composer Morton Feldman is best known for being a founding member of the New York School, a group of musicians and artists that pursued an experimental style of composition in the 1950s and 60s. His works for cello and piano are included in full in this special collection. Among the composer's earlier works is the Two Pieces (1948), characterised by its emphatic chromaticism, in keeping with the avant-garde style of the era. After having met John Cage in 1950, and forming the New York School, there was a change in Feldman's compositional style. Among the works from this era are several indeterminate works, such as Projection 1 and Intersection 4. The final stage in Feldman's compositional career dates from the post-1970s, when Feldman had moved from New York to take up a professorship at the University of Buffalo. Compositions from this time include Patterns in a chromatic field, a work full of chains of melodic cells repeated with subtle variations in pitch or melody, which relies on the impulses of the performer. The works are performed here by the Italian musicians Marco Simonacci (cello), Giancarlo Simonacci (piano), Fabio Frapparelli (horn), and Paola Ronchetti and Ilaria Severo (sopranos), Each has an international reputation as a performer and recording artist.Other information:- Recorded in 2012.- Morton Feldman is without doubt one of the most remarkable and influential composers of the second half of 20th century America. His experimental works (where the course of a composition is often open to multiple interpretations) are based on melodic cells which are endlessly and subtly varied and developed in immensely long and slow moving structures (sometimes of several hours), producing a hallucinatory effect on the audience. Especially over the last few years Feldman became an iconic cult figure, an antidote against modern time's stress.- Excellent performances by father and son Simonacci, who proved their innate feeling for the idiom in their many recordings of the works of John Cage on Brilliant Classics.- Contains liner notes on the composer and works.- Contains performer biographies.- Shop: odax
