This play was written for a junior undergraduate college class to highlight the best arguments against and for drug legalization. The perspective comes from a deontological ethical perspective as well as a consequential ethical perspective. The play considers all moral codes and the high demand for drug legalization (all polls show that the majority of people in the world are in favor, especially for medical usage of marijuana). There are oppositions, but this play provides the best arguments from both sides. I am a nonbiased, neutral writer and wrote this with the purpose of replicating the most common arguments that will come up during a debate on marijuana. This play could be a great school play and maybe help some politicians become better at debating politics. I have a bachelor's degree in business administration and an associate's degree in business management technology. This qualifies as a scholarly essay. ungekürzt. Language: English. Daniel Suarez's New York Times best-selling debut high-tech thriller is “so frightening even the government has taken note” (Entertainment Weekly). Daemons: computer programs that silently run in the background, waiting for a specific event or time to execute. They power almost every service. They make our networked world possible. But they also make it vulnerable....When the obituary of legendary computer game architect Matthew Sobol appears online, a previously dormant daemon activates, initiating a chain of events that begins to unravel our interconnected world. This daemon reads news headlines, recruits human followers, and orders assassinations. With Sobol’s secrets buried with him, and as new layers of his daemon are unleashed, it’s up to Detective Peter Sebeck to stop a self-replicating virtual killer before it achieves its ultimate purpose - one that goes far beyond anything Sebeck could have imagined.... ungekürzt. Welcome to the territory. Leave your metal behind, all of it. The bugs will eat it, and they'll go right through you to get it. Don't carry it, don't wear it, and for God's sake, don't come here if you've got a pacemaker. The bugs showed up about 50 years ago - self-replicating, solar-powered, metal-eating machines. No one knows where they came from. They don't like water, though, so they've stayed in the desert Southwest. The territory. People still live here, but they do it without metal. Log cabins, ceramics, what plastic they can get that will survive the sun and heat. Technology has adapted, and so have the people. Kimble Monroe has chosen to live in the territory. He was born here, and he is extraordinarily well adapted to it. He's one in a million. Maybe one in a billion. In 7th Sigma, Gould builds an extraordinary SF novel of survival and personal triumph against all the odds. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Fred Berman. What does it mean to be a sporty woman in the 21st century? From the launch of Net-A-Sporter, serving up sports clothing for fashionistas, to the introduction of #plankie as the new Instagram selfie for yoga bunnies, exercise for women has finally gone mainstream. But if sweating has never been so hot for female celebrities, then why are there still so many obstacles for girls and women when it comes to sport? Why do girls still hate school sports lessons? Why is sport consistently defined as male territory, with TV cameras replicating the male gaze as they search out the most beautiful women in the crowd? Will women ever flock to watch football, rugby and boxing in their millions? Or turn up to the park with friends for a Sunday morning kick about? How long do we have to wait to see the first multimillionaire female footballer or basketball player? Eat Sweat Play is an engaging and inspirational work by sports writer Anna Kessel. ungekürzt. In her new, complete translation of the Book of Psalms, Pamela Greenberg "favors beauty before theology," in the words of Mary Karr, writing in the Washington Post of the unpublished manuscript of this book, "breathing new life into the ancient texts." It is precisely the honesty of these prayer songs, overflowing into wild jubilance or deeply wrenching despair, that Greenberg has captured in her new translations, making them touch us so deeply. Traditional translations - from those of the medieval Jewish commentator Rashi to early Christian commentators to the King James version—have downplayed anger at God and reinterpreted the Psalms in ways that would be doctrinally more palatable, but which flatten the richness and subtlety of the Hebrew verse. Greenberg's translation aims to restore the poetry and vibrancy of the Psalms as a prayerful act, replicating their emotional passion while both wrestling with the text as living liturgy and remaining as true as possible to the originals. Her desire in this new translation is to rekindle the relevance of the Psalms, to bring to life what makes their words cry and breathe and shout—a labor of yearning, necessity, and love. ungekürzt. In the year 2050, the United States sends the FBI to govern its space station, the Empyrean. Under the command of suave 80-year-old director Samuel Lord, the Zero G men are in charge of investigating terrorism, crime, corruption, and espionage and of keeping an eye on the rival Chinese and Russian stations. NASA is conducting a top-secret project in the agricultural center of the US space station Empyrean, using microscopic robots called nanites to construct a vine that can survive in space. The plan is to grow structural material for an elevator that will reach from the Empyrean to Earth. Unfortunately a Russian spy inadvertently causes the growth to rage out of control, threatening not only the Empyrean but also the Russian space station, Red Giant. Under the guidance of Director Samuel Lord, Zero G must not only identify the spy but help find a way to stop the fast-replicating vine...and a form of space zombie birthed by the nanites. The surprising solution takes Lord and a Russian pilot on a dangerous mission to Venus - where a shocking discovery awaits. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: William Shatner.
