Wahre Künstler sind frei. Frei von Schubladen, frei von Marketingplänen, frei von den Entscheidungen anderer. Claudia Koreck hat sich ihre Freiheit erkämpft und nie wieder nehmen lassen. Wenn nun im Sommer ihr mittlerweile zehntes Studioalbum erscheint, dann ist es wohl ihr experimentierfreudigstes. Passenderweise "Auf die Freiheit" betitelt, schlägt es in elf Stücken einen Bogen von der funky Disco-Nummer ("Katz und Maus") bis zum Gypsy-Folk ("Fremde Melodie"), vom bassgetriebenen "Vida Bonita" bis zum Trompeten-Reggae-Schelmenstück ("Bahamas"). Die überraschendste Nummer dürfte "Vegas" sein. Mit reduzierter Stimme und verstärktem Bass, mit treibendem Beat und einem Revue-Refrain im Abba-Stil verblüfft Koreck in einer neuartigen Fusion aus Bairisch und Billie Eilish. Sie mag ihren Sound geöffnet haben, begleitet hier und da von Wurlitzer, Ukulele oder 8-Bit-Keys, bleibt die Songwriterin doch immer und zu 100 Prozent: Claudia Koreck selbst. "I bin der rote Faden", sagt sie lächelnd. "Ich mache kompromisslos, was ich will". Dazu gehören bei aller Neugier und Positivität auch wieder intime und grüblerische Gitarrenballaden ("Nia zufriedn" und "Koa Paradies") sowie vom Blues infizierte Nummern im geliebten Koreck-Stil wie etwa der Opener "Aufgwacht von den Douden". Eine bunte, wilde, spannende Mischung präsentiert sie dieses Mal, aber gerade das gefällt der Künstlerin. "Das Schubladen-Ding war nie meins", sagt sie, "ich bin in mehreren Richtungen dahoam".
