The 2016/17 season marked the 25th of the Premier League. This book recognises that fact in a way which is factually accurate yet dismissive of reputations and hype. It recognises the achievements of Swindon and Barnsley as much as Manchester United and Chelsea and sneaks in references to borg drones from Star Trek, Oscar Wilde, Nirvana and Red Dwarf alongside analysis of the songs and seasons. Notts County fan Billy Ivory's foreword sets a tone of bitter irony as the story (shocked back to life by Leicester City) is told in unconventional fashion. Fans of all 49 teams who've been involved in Premier League have their say, except for Huddersfield (due to publishing deadlines), although we feel sure Patrick Stewart will want this one for Christmas....The Premier League charts each of the 25 seasons with the story of how the titles were won and the players who starred. From 2011/12's incredible finale to Arsenal's 'Invincibles' as well as each of Manchester United's record 13 triumphs, find out more about the rich history of the Premier League. ungekürzt. As one of the last remaining survivors of the Great Depression and the Second World War, I will not go gently into that good night. I want to tell you what the world looks like through my eyes, so you can help change it.... In November 2013, 91-year-old Yorkshireman, RAF veteran, and ex-carpet salesman Harry Leslie Smith’s Guardian article – "This year, I will wear a poppy for the last time" – was shared almost 60,000 times on Facebook and started a huge debate about the state of society. Now he brings his unique perspective to bear on NHS cutbacks, benefits policy, political corruption, food poverty, the cost of education – and much more. From the deprivation of 1930s Barnsley and the terror of war to the creation of our welfare state, Harry has experienced how a great civilisation can rise from the rubble. But at the end of his life, he fears how easily it is being eroded. Harry’s Last Stand is a lyrical, searing modern invective that shows what the past can teach us and how the future is ours for the taking. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Ric Jerrom. The memorable and gutsy heroines of J. H. Fletcher's Land of Golden Wattle take us on a journey through Australian history.  1826, Van Diemen's Land. When her father dies in a duel, 17-year-old Emma Tregellas is left with limited funds and at the mercy of her odious guardian. Faced with the prospect of being forced into marriage with a man she detests, she enlists the help of her true love, Ephraim Dark, who assists her to escape to faraway Van Diemen's Land. Here she seeks sanctuary with her wealthy uncle, Barnsley Tregellas.  1982, Tasmania. The union of Bec Hampton and Jonathan, heir to the fabulously wealthy Penrose estate, brought promise of reconciliation to two warring sides of the same family: a dynasty that had its foundations laid by Emma Tregellas and Ephraim Dark nearly a 100 years earlier. Defying opposition from Jonathan's formidable grandmother, Bec had gained control of Derwent, the agricultural empire that the family had built from the early days of white settlement. Now 85, Bec's dearest wish is that her granddaughter Tamara should inherit the property, but Giles, her dissolute son, has other ideas. Will Bec and Tamara succeed in defeating Giles' plans, or will control of Derwent pass irrevocably out of the family?  This majestic historical drama spans seven generations of an often-divided Australian family. With them we experience many of the traumatic events of Australia's history: the early days of white settlement, the gold rush, the cataclysm of two world wars and the Great Depression. ungekürzt. Set 44 years after a mass social awakening, The World Within takes us on a journey through the "new normal" on planet Venezelu. It shows us possibilities that come from the human brain in times of mass change. The biggest breakthrough is the brain’s ability to travel through space and time via our dreams. The Awakening teaches societies how to tap into this inherent in-built "technology".Our story begins when the first human of Earth taps into this state of consciousness. She sparks a domino effect – mass societal and spiritual reconstruction is on its way.Embodied in a fictional world of magic, mystics, and flying bears, The World Within addresses human philosophical questions: Why are we here? What happens when we go to sleep? It looks at the impact of good versus evil and the negative effects of power-hungry leaders in politics. In The World Within, an alien perspective sheds light on the importance of transpersonal psychology, spirituality and consciousness as necessary tools for inner peace and development. An interdimensional being pays a visit to Earth and stumbles across a human woman on the brink of sleep. A normal night for dream traveller Marcux. What Marcux didn't expect, was that the Earthling could see him too. Inspired by actual events, The World Within is a parapsychological sci-fi novel. It's about a real sleep phenomenon called "hypnagogia" and how a human woman called Aurora discovers its potential as a gateway to other dimensions. Filled with shamanic witches, a prophecy, espionage, a dishonest and greedy tyrant, a Supreme Court trial, entrepreneurial pirates, dream travelers, undercover agents, assassins, monks, flying bears, electricity, brainwaves, scientists, a space race against time, and a young woman from Barnsley at the center of it all. ungekürzt. This book is based on notes for the course Fractals:lntroduction, Basics and Perspectives given by MichaelF. Barnsley, RobertL. Devaney, Heinz-Otto Peit gen, Dietmar Saupe and Richard F. Voss. The course was chaired by Heinz-Otto Peitgen and was part of the SIGGRAPH '87 (Anaheim, California) course pro gram. Though the five chapters of this book have emerged from those courses we have tried to make this book a coherent and uniformly styled presentation as much as possible. It is the first book which discusses fractals solely from the point of view of computer graphics. Though fundamental concepts and algo rithms are not introduced and discussed in mathematical rigor we have made a serious attempt to justify and motivate wherever it appeared to be desirable. Ba sic algorithms are typically presented in pseudo-code or a description so close to code that a reader who is familiar with elementary computer graphics should find no problem to get started. Mandelbrot's fractal geometry provides both a description and a mathemat ical model for many of the seemingly complex forms and patterns in nature and the sciences. Fractals have blossomed enormously in the past few years and have helped reconnect pure mathematics research with both natural sciences and computing. Computer graphics has played an essential role both in its de velopment and rapidly growing popularity. Conversely, fractal geometry now plays an important role in the rendering, modelling and animation of natural phenomena and fantastic shapes in computer graphics.

Doing Math with Python shows you how to use Python to delve into high school-level math topics like statistics, geometry, probability, and calculus. You'll start with simple projects, like a factoring program and a quadratic-equation solver, and then create more complex projects once you've gotten the hang of things. Along the way, you'll discover new ways to explore math and gain valuable programming skills that you'll use throughout your study of math and computer science. Learn how to: -Describe your data with statistics, and visualize it with line graphs, bar charts, and scatter plots -Explore set theory and probability with programs for coin flips, dicing, and other games of chance -Solve algebra problems using Python's symbolic math functions -Draw geometric shapes and explore fractals like the Barnsley fern, the Sierpinski triangle, and the Mandelbrot set -Write programs to find derivatives and integrate functions Creative coding challenges and applied examples help you see how you can put your new math and coding skills into practice. You'll write an inequality solver, plot gravity's effect on how far a bullet will travel, shuffle a deck of cards, estimate the area of a circle by throwing 100,000 "darts" at a board, explore the relationship between the Fibonacci sequence and the golden ratio, and more. Whether you're interested in math but have yet to dip into programming or you're a teacher looking to bring programming into the classroom, you'll find that Python makes programming easy and practical. Let Python handle the grunt work while you focus on the math. Uses Python 3
