The String of Pearls: The Original Tale of Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 713min
The iconic tale of Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street, was first published as a weekly series of 'penny dreadfuls' between November 1846 and March 1847. The author cannot be determined with any certainty, but scholars believe it was most probably written collaboratively by James Malcolm Rymer and Thomas Peckett Prest, alternating between each episode released. Our story begins in 1785 when a young seafarer, Captain Thornhill, disappears while visiting the shop of a barber in London, a certain Sweeney Todd whose shop in Fleet Street is situated by St. Dunstan's church, just round the corner from the famous and popular meat pie shop run by Mrs. Lovett. Thornhill was carrying a string of pearls as a gift for Johanna Oakley, the sweetheart of his friend Mark Ingestrie who is missing, presumed lost at sea. One of Thornhill's friends, Colonel Jeffrey, together with Johanna Oakley, takes up the search...and suspicion immediately falls on the barber's shop as Thornhill's faithful dog has taken up station at that door and refuses to leave the place. But the mystery only deepens. Todd's apprentice asks awkward questions and makes some frightening discoveries, but is immediately dispatched to a lunatic asylum outside London where he is incarcerated. And meanwhile the entire district is troubled by an appalling stench rising from the vaults of St. Dunstan's church. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Cathy Dobson. Challenges in Sugar Production - Food Safety Management Systems
The sugar industry is one of the largest among the food industry. One plant processes around 8,000 tons of sugar beet daily. It can be said that sugar is a strategic product and byproducts are valuable as well, since they are raw materials for other technological processes which are also important. The author introduces the products of the sugar industry as well as the high product safety requirements. Due to the unambiguous impact of globalization on modern business, one of the requirements set in front of manufacturers is standardization and certification of food safety and quality systems. The book provides an overview of the GFSI Standards - Global Food Safety Initiative and key factors which collaboratively drive continuous improvement in the FSMS system around the world with a vision "Safe food for consumers everywhere". Further, it provides an overview of the impact of the globalization process on the sugar industry and the applied GFSI-approved schemes. The objective of this book is an individual analysis of the GFSI approved schemes (FSSC 22000, BRC, IFS). Other standards applied in the food industry are also presented (EMS, Kosher, Halal, SAI-FSA).- Shop: buecher

The Explosive Child: A New Approach for Understanding and Parenting Easily Frustrated, Chronically Inflexible Children, Hörbuch, Digital, 158min
Dr. Ross Greene, a distinguished clinician and pioneer in the treatment of kids with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges, has worked with thousands of explosive children, and he has good news: these kids aren't attentionseeking, manipulative, or unmotivated, and their parents aren't passive, permissive disciplinarians. Rather, explosive kids are lacking some crucial skills in the domains of flexibility/adaptability, frustration tolerance, and problem solving, and they require a different approach to parenting. The Explosive Child is the highly acclaimed, lifechanging parenting guide in which Dr. Greene first delineated the Collaborative Problem Solving approach. Dr. Greene explains why kids exhibit challenging behaviors, why traditional behavior management strategies may not be effective for many kids, and how to use Plan B to solve problems collaboratively and teach your child the skills he or she is lacking. As the model has evolved over the years, so has The Explosive Child, and it is available here in an abridged and updated fourth edition narrated by Dr. Greene. Throughout this compassionate, insightful, and practical book, Dr. Greene provides a new conceptual framework for understanding their difficulties. He explains why traditional parenting and treatment often don't work with these children, and he describes what to do instead. Instead of relying on rewarding and punishing, Dr. Greene's Collaborative Problem Solving model promotes working with explosive children to solve the problems that precipitate explosive episodes, and teaching these kids the skills they lack. PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying reference material will be available in your My Library section along with the audio. Language: English. Narrator: Dr. Ross W. Greene. The Innovator's Hypothesis: How Cheap Experiments Are Worth More than Good Ideas , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 418min
What is the best way for a company to innovate? That's exactly the wrong question. The better question: How can organizations get the maximum possible value from their innovation investments? Advice recommending "innovation vacations" and the luxury of failure may be wonderful for organizations with time to spend and money to waste. But this audiobook addresses the innovation priorities of companies that live in the real world of limits. They want fast, frugal, and high-impact innovations. They don't just seek superior innovation; they want superior innovators. In The Innovator's Hypothesis, innovation expert Michael Schrage advocates a cultural and strategic shift: small teams collaboratively - and competitively - crafting business experiments that make top management sit up and take notice. Creativity within constraints - clear deadlines and clear deliverables - is what serious innovation cultures do. Schrage introduces the 5X5 framework: giving diverse teams of five people up to five days to come up with portfolios of five business experiments costing no more than $5,000 each and taking no longer than five weeks to run. The book describes multiple portfolios of 5X5 experiments drawn from Schrage's advisory work and innovation workshops worldwide. These include financial service approaches for improving customer service and addressing security challenges; a pharmaceutical company's hypotheses for boosting regulatory compliance; and a diaper division's efforts to give babies and parents alike better "diapering experiences" with glow-in-the-dark adhesives, diagnostic capability, and bundled wipes. Schrage's 5X5 is enterprise innovation gone viral: Successful 5X5s make people more effective innovators, and more effective innovators mean more effective innovations. ungekürzt. Language: English.
