    Am 30. März erscheint mit "Sometimes Just The Sky" das neue Album von Mary Chapin Carpenter über Lambent Light Records/Thirty Tigers. Mit der Veröffentlichung feiert Carpenter ihre mittlerweile 30 Jahre andauernde Karriere, die bemerkenswerte Platte enthält neue Versionen von Carpenters beliebtesten Songs sowie einen neu geschriebenen Song, der zum Titeltrack wurde. Produziert von Ethan Johns (Ryan Adams, Paul McCartney, Ray LaMontagne), wurde das 13 Tracks umfassende Album komplett live in Peter Gabriel's Real World Studios außerhalb von Bath, England, aufgenommen. Zusammen mit seinem langjährigen Mitstreiter Duke Levine an der Gitarre und einer handverlesenen Band von Johns' Lieblingsmusikern spielte Carpenter je einen Song aus jedem ihrer zwölf Studioalben neu ein (plus den bereits erwähnten Song "Sometimes Just The Sky"). Zu dem Albumtitel und dem neuesten Song sagt Carpenter: "Ich habe ein schönes Interview mit Patti Smith gelesen, in dem sie sagte, dass man nicht zu weit in die Ferne schauen muss, um, Dinge zu finden, die dich im Leben beruhigen oder glücklich machen. Manchmal bringt nur der Himmel alles in die richtige Perspektive."

Recorded in Nashville and produced by Ray Kennedy (Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams) the album features ten brand new Kami Thompson and James Walbourne original songs that showcase their trademark harmonies and vocal prowess. The Rails 2014 debut album 'Fair Warning', produced by Edwyn Collins, had critics gushing. It was chosen as Mojo's best folk album that year and the band went on to be presented the Horizon Award for Best New Act at Radio Two's prestigious Folk Awards in 2015. The new album lives up to expectations as we hear The Rails adopt a slightly harder edged sound that incorporate elements of folk, 60's pop, psychedelia and soul with a distinctive British flavour. James is one of the country's finest guitarists and full time member of the Pretenders, he also plays with both Ray Davies and the Pogues. Kami is folk rock royalty, daughter of Richard and Linda Thomson, sister to Teddy. The couple began working together in 2011 and married the following year. 'Other People' was recorded at Room &amp, Board Studios in Nashville and features James on guitars and keyboards, drummer Cody Dickinson (North Mississippi Allstars), bassist Jim Boquist (Son Volt) and Eric Heywood (Ray Lamontagne) on pedal steel.

    Rachael Yamagata veröffentlicht am 23. September "Tightrope Walker" über ihr Label Frankenfish Records. Der Nachfolger von "Chesapeake" (2011) ist Yamagata's viertes Soloalbum und wird von einer US- und Europa-Tour (die bald bekanntgegeben wird) begleitet. Neben ihren drei Longplayer-Releases und 5 EPs gab es in den vergangen Jahren Kollaborationen u.a. mit Ryan Adams, Bright Eyes oder Ray LaMontagne. Die Singer/Songwriterin aus Virginia suchte auf dem neuen Album auch thematisch neue Herausforderungen. Indirekt wurde sie vom französischen Hochseilartist Philippe Petit, der 1974 weltweit Aufmerksamkeit durch seinen illegalen Drahtseilakt auf einem Hochseil zwischen den Türmen des World Trade Centers in New York, erregte, beeinflusst. Eine ganze Reihe unterschiedlicher Musiker unterstützten Yamagata bei den Aufnahmen, wie z,B. Kevin Salem (Yo La Tengo, Dumptruck), Owen Biddle (The Roots), Zach Djanikian (Amos Lee, Amy Helm), Ben Perowsky (Rufus Wainwright), Russell Simins (Jon Spencer Blues Explosion), Oli Kraus (Sia), Michael Chaves (John Mayer, Adam Cohen), Matt Chamberlain, Victor Indrizzo, Randy Cooke etc. Yamagata's langjähriger Produzent John Alagia (John Mayer, Dave Matthews Band) kam schließlich als Ko-Produzent dazu und für den Mix war Shawn Everett (Alabama Shakes) verantwortlich.
