Nikki Shannon is exactly the kind of artist every music-hungry, Myspace browser looks for. You can't help but immediately be lured in by Nikki, as she has the complete package--stunning voice, well-seasoned pianist, incredible songwriting and an electrifying personality. 'It all started on Thanksgiving Eve when I was 4. My mom went to buy a horse but instead came back with a piano.' Growing up in Kingston, New York, Nikki would watch her two older sisters play the piano and begged her mother for piano lessons. Even at a young age, she spent hours incessantly at the keyboard, which eventually led to Nikki training at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy. In her teen years, she was constantly performing and songwriting-at first, singing in lounges, then writing and performing wedding songs for couples, and eventually writing songs for her debut album 'Too Few'. Even with all this early success and incessant drive, Nikki couldn't escape the financial challenges of being a New York City artist and eventually became homeless. She would sleep in the backseat of cabs, on friends' couches, and even in the basements of piano bars where she performed. But the music always kept her going, and Nikki never let any setbacks cloud her visions of success. In May 2008, the dynamite singer-songwriter Nikki Shannon released her debut album, Too Few. Songs from the album have recently been featured in 3 episodes of MTV's "The Hills", on an episode of 'Six Degrees' on ABC, as well on XM Satellite radio and the NYC classic rock station Q104.3 ('Out of the Box' hosted by Jonathan Clarke.) The album is packed with soulful vocals and brutally honest lyrics. Her album resounds with emotional anthems like 'Inner Circle' proclaiming, 'I'm cleaning the house, I'm locking the doors, I'm mopping the floors with people not worth fighting for.' The more upbeat and funky 'Chocolate and Wine' perfectly depicts every girl's dreaded monthly experience with chocolate, wine, and the blues, as she sings, 'Just in time for another excuse, happy hour is my favorite abuse, juke box plays my favorite song so why is everything so wrong.' Nikki is quick to admit her favorite track is 'Suffocate,' which showcases her classical piano background through it's irresistible piano melodies. ''Suffocate' took twenty minutes to write. I had a melody in my head that wouldn't go away, so I went straight to the piano and my hands knew exactly where to go.' 'Most of the time we set up a rehearsal and end up falling in love with the feeling of the song and find ourselves recording it on accident,' she says of her recording process. She explains why she chooses to record in analog versus using digital equipment, 'You tend to form the habit of staring at the screen, tempted to go back and play with things because you 'can' and my favorite parts are still the 'by accidents', the first takes, and 'the moments.'' Nikki will be kicking off a US tour in early 2009 and plans to make her UK debut in the Summer 2009.

Chapeaumelon is a French-Canadian band most notable for a cover of The Who's My Generation used in the 2004 film Eurotrip and it's soundtrack. History After a few short months of the band's genesis, Chapeaumelon won the Coup de Cœur prize at the Festival International de la chanson de Granby. The following summer, the boys then offered their second performance at the Francofolies de Montréal earning them Coup de Cœur de l'Année. The band was quickly taken under Jacques Dion and Michel Trudel's wings, helping them to produce their first record at the prestigious Studios Piccolo (Daniel Bélanger, Céline Dion, Diane Dufresne,Jean-Pierre Ferland, Simple Plan, Smashing Pumpkins,...) by the end of October 2002. It is to be noted that Celine Dion's drummer Dominique Messier produced a few songs as well. Backed by the Gillett entertainment company, they toured Ontario and Quebec. Their songs climbed the charts quickly in both provinces but also in New-Brunswick. The hit 'L'Acheteur' became their first video which won the 2002 prize for best French video on 'French Kiss', the Much Music television program. David Lahaye directed both this and the following video, 'Sofa'. This record was extraordinarily well received and was filed under Le Devoir's 2003 top 10 best records. Chapeaumelon was then honored to be dubbed one of Quebec's 10 people of the year by the 'Les Incontournables' TV show. They had the opportunity to open for well known acts such as Marc Déry, Sylvain Cossette, Blue Rodeo, The Tea Party(...) as well as being heard in popular series such as Las Vegas, Scooby Doo and Ghost Whisperer. Chapeaumelon were also invited to sing their hit 'Victoire' at Celine Dion's 2003 record launch in Las Vegas. It's in 2004 that two of their songs are included in the American movie Eurotrip. 'Ma Generation', the classic The Who's cover, being chosen as the opening credits theme. After three years out of the spotlight, Chapeaumelon returned with a new rhythm section : Tarik Akbik on bass and Fredéric Tessier on drums, winning Richmond's Festirock contest in march of 2008. They then opened for Jonas at Sherbrooke's Canada day celebrations. Their latest release 'Bonjour Bonsoir' was launched at last year's Francofolies, opening for Les BB and after winning yet another music contest at the Beloeil festival, the band opened for Marie-Chantal Toupin and Offenbach in August. Also, their new song 'Mademoiselle Éphémère' was on MTV's The Hills (Season 3-Episode 19) who incidently broke audience records of 4.7 million viewers in the US alone.

Fans of early Posies, harmony-ridden, acoustic-driven pure pop, REJOICE! It's hard to find a band that better epitomizes what why so many folks fell so hard for The Posies during their 'Failure' and 'Dear 23' period (those Hollies-esque harmonies!) than Jesse Sprinkle's 'Unnoticed'. Fans of Michael Penn, Neil Finn, Ice Cream Hands and the those rare moments when Elliot Smith made happy pop music are going to, simply, be smitten and fall hard for this one. Sprinkle used to be in the band Poor Old Lu, who released some legendary, but hard to find albums in the 90's. Soaring open chorded strums and blended vocals fulfill the connection to all the aforementioned bands. Crisp guitar lines and rich, soothing vocals urge the complete success of this project clearly into focus, opening up fresh pop vistas of effortless strumming and lovely melodies. IT does not get much better than this for fans of acoustically, chiming, ringing power pop than this. Lyrically rich, the songs rely on sugar-sweet harmonies on every second of this CD. Extremely Highly Recommended! Jesse, a Seattle Washington native was thrust into the music industry over a decade ago as the drummer for the legendary underground group Poor Old Lu. And since they disbanded in 1996 he has managed to stay busy as a drummer, songwriter, and recording engineer. Jesse is currently residing in the majestic village of Dansville New York, where he owns and operates the illuminata recording company, engineering, producing, photographing, and designing for all sorts of musical outfits. You might have also heard jesse performing and or recording with the following artists: dead poetic - demon hunter - serene UK - paloma - robert deeble - annie quick - starflyer 59 - kutless, paul wright, michael knott, etc... dead poetic and demon hunter can both be seen on mtv's head bangers ball and extreme rock shows.
