Emal and Joti had always been good friends. They grew up in the same neighborhood. They enjoyed the same things in life. They often went to the same events. What Emal and Joti enjoyed most of all was adventure. Growing up, adventure was what they experienced the least of all. Emal and Joti's best and perhaps only chance at adventure was space travel. But there was little chance of that. There was little chance at all until they were teenagers and a new company started to mass produce star-jumpers. Emal and Joti both applied to pilot school. After they graduated, each of them started saving as much money as they could so that they could buy their own star-jumper. After a few years, it became obvious to each of them that the only way they would have enough money to fulfill their dream was if they pooled their money together. A few years later and they were finally able to buy their star-jumper. They were off to pursue their dream. The great adventure of their life was about to begin! ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Kip Willoughby. Research Paper (postgraduate) from the year 2020 in the subject Medicine - Other, grade: 10.00, , course: NEUROCIRUGÍA, language: English, abstract: The aim of this study was to investigate whether percutaneous vertebral augmentation (PVA) was associated with clinical and radiological subsequent adjacent fractures. A systematic review and meta-analysis was performed searching on PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane library, Google Scholar, web of science and ClinicalTrial.gov from the establishment of the database to January 2020. Eligible studies assessing the subsequent adjacent fractures after PVA compared with conservative treatment (CT) were incorporated. The pooled risk ratio (RR) with its 95% confidence intervals (95% CI) was used. Heterogeneity, sensitivity and publication bias analyses were performed. A total of 24 studies were considered eligible and were included finally. 20/421 patients (4.75%) had clinical subsequent adjacent fractures from PVA group, and 25/359 patients (6.96%) had from CT group, and 46/440 patients (10.45%) from PVA group and 36/444 patients (8.10%) from CT group had radiological subsequent adjacent fractures. There both had no significant difference between two groups (RR=0.67, 95%CI: [0.38, 1.19], P = 0.17)/ (RR=1.13, 95%CI: [0.75, 1.70], P = 0.576). However, in fractured vertebrae, number in PVA group was more than that in CT group (RR=1.41, 95%CI: [1.03, 1.93], P = 0.03). Collectively, currently available literature provides data showed PVA did not increase the incidence for subsequent adjacent fractures, no matter it was clinical or radiological fracture. But PVA may increase the number of fractured vertebrae.

Libby’s mommy was sweet and Libby was Daddy’s girl. Mommy got her a mirror at a garage sale and Daddy made goofy faces with her. Tummy Bear and Joe the Lion didn’t seem to like the mirror and maybe the mirror didn’t like them. Libby was pretty sure the mirror didn’t like her either because it stopped showing her face. Content Warning: This story contains very dark and disturbing imagery including bloody horror and a child in danger. It is intended for mature adults and any guardians should review the content prior to making it available to a minor in their care. A preview: Libby stopped in the doorway. Her eyes staring at the mound of fluff on her bright yellow comforter, she made it to the edge of her bed and stood on wobbly legs. Her thoughts were jumbled and full of fear. She saw the empty carcasses of Tummy Bear and Joe Lion sitting pitifully in their normal places, but with emptied bellies and bodies, the stuffing cut from them and pulled out in cotton candy heaps around them. Her eyes followed the heaps and she saw her safety scissors lying close by, their blue handles touching the pink scalloped shell of the compact. The toy was open and the mirror inside now had a crack running the length of it. Libby looked down into it, feeling the tears run soft and wet down her face to hit the cheap mirror with little plops that pooled and shifted her image. Her tears made it worse; she looked like some old goblin from the fairy tale book her mom read to her at night. The space with her missing tooth swelled and filled her mouth. ungekürzt. This is the fourth book about my son Jodi, who has autism. This time though, it's a fly on the wall account into a small part of his life since he moved out of our family home. In this audiobook, I hope to show it is possible for people with learning difficulties and other related disabilities to live independently with the correct support. I hope you'll find it interesting and encouraging. This book is about Jodi, Ben, and Alex, who all have learning difficulties, and also personal budgets. They are very lucky! All three lads have different disabilities and couldn't possibly live on their own. However, the local council has given each of them an annual personal budget, which means they are able to design their own lives. With the correct support strategies, they are able to access life skill activities to make them as independent as possible. Jodi, Ben, and Alex pooled their money so they get full time support. They live in rented accommodation, and each have their own tenancy agreements. They keep their house so clean and tidy, it's often referred to by the local authorities as a great example of how good things can be for disabled people when you get three things right. These are: The right mix of people. (Similar ages and abilities). The right support. (Parent involvement and staff who are interested, interesting, motivated and caring). The right accommodation. (Must be large enough for everyone to have their own private space as well as shared rooms). It is the way forward and Jodi, Ben, and Alex are pioneers. They are VERY lucky! ungekürzt. Learn about securitization with iMinds Money's insightful fast knowledge series. Securitization as a financial term has evolved over the decades, as different methods and products have developed from the process. At a basic level, securitization is the process of taking an illiquid asset, or a group of relatively homogenous assets, and through financial engineering, transforming them into a security. The assets are pooled together and repackaged into a single security, which is then sold to investors. The security entitles them to the incoming cash flows and other economic benefits generated by the asset pool. Securitization originated in the late 1980s in the form of both mortgage backed securities and asset backed securities. There are many similarities between securitization and secured lending, or asset backed lending. In secured lending, the lender requires the borrowing firm to commit specific assets of that firm as security or collateral for the loan. A securitization differs from this process in several ways. In a securitization, the cash flow generated by the asset pool can be employed to support investing in other securities. Rather than relying on the sale or the use of current assets as a guarantee to finance their investment, a firm can use the receivable income expected from its current assets to generate income immediately. The end result of the securitization is that a firm can obtain funding without having to borrow anything, but through the sale of income receivable assets to investors. iMinds will hone your financial knowledge with its insightful series looking at topics related to Money, Investment and Finance.. whether an amateur or specialist in the field, iMinds targeted fast knowledge series will whet your mental appetite and broaden your mind. ungekürzt. The audio that shows how to get the job done and deliver results...whether you're running an entire company or in your first management job. Larry Bossidy is one of the world's most acclaimed CEOs, with a track record for delivering results. Ram Charan is a legendary adviser to senior executives and boards of directors, a man with unparalleled insight into why some companies are successful and others are not. Together they've pooled their knowledge and experience into one guide on how to close the gap between results promised and results delivered. The discipline of execution means understanding how to link together people, strategy, and operations, the three core processes of every business. Leading these processes is the real job of running a business, not formulating a "vision" and leaving the work of carrying it out to others. Bossidy and Charan show the importance of being deeply and passionately engaged in an organization and why robust dialogues about people, strategy, and operations result in a business based on intellectual honesty and realism. The leader's most important job - selecting and appraising people - is one that should never be delegated. As a CEO, Larry Bossidy personally makes the calls to check references for key hires. Why? With the right people in the right jobs, there's a leadership gene pool that conceives and selects strategies that can be executed. People then work together to create a strategy building block by building block, a strategy in sync with the realities of the marketplace, the economy, and the competition. Once the right people and strategy are in place, they are then linked to an operating process that results in the implementation of specific programs and actions and that assigns accountability. This kind of effective operating process goes way beyond the typical budget exercise that looks into a rearview mirror to set its goals. It puts reality behind the numbers and is where the rubber meets the road. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: John Bedford Lloyd. Why is America living in an age of profound economic inequality? Why, despite the desperate need to address climate change, have even modest environmental efforts been defeated again and again? Why have protections for employees been decimated? Why do hedge-fund billionaires pay a far lower tax rate than middle-class workers? The conventional answer is that a popular uprising against "big government" led to the rise of a broad-based conservative movement. But as Jane Mayer shows in this powerful, meticulously reported history, a network of exceedingly wealthy people with extreme libertarian views also played a key role by bankrolling a systematic, step-by-step plan to fundamentally alter the American political system. The network has brought together some of the richest people on the planet, foremost among them Charles and David Koch. Their core beliefs - that taxes are a form of tyranny; that government oversight of business is an assault on freedom - are sincerely held. But these beliefs also advance their personal and corporate interests: Many of their companies have run afoul of federal pollution, worker safety, securities, and tax laws. When libertarian ideas proved decidedly unpopular with voters, the Koch brothers and their allies decided on another path. If they pooled their vast resources, they could fund an interlocking array of organizations that could work in tandem to influence and ultimately control academic institutions, think tanks, the courts, statehouses, Congress, and, they hoped, the presidency. The political operatives the network employs are disciplined, smart, and at times ruthless. And their efforts have been remarkably successful. Libertarian views on taxes and regulation, once far outside the mainstream and still rejected by most Americans, are ascendant in the majority of state governments, the Supreme Court, and Congress. Meaningful environmental, labor, finance, and tax reform have been stymied. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Kirsten Potter.
