The album follows EPs on both Tectonic and sister label Cold Recordings and Visionist's PAN collaboration label Codes. As influenced by rave & jungle, grime and techno as electronica, ambient and drone, his EP releases have been rhythm driven snapshots of other-worldliness spliced with dancefloor sensibilities. Out of the Light
Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Trevor Layton took up guitar at the age of 13 and has become an excellent player, vocalist and songwriter, displaying a range and versatility far beyond his years. He has written many songs, the first of which he completed, in fully recorded form, as part of a ninth grade school project, this very song, 'Watching From a Distance', is featured on his first CD release Out Of The Light, which was recorded over the better part of a year with Vancouver-based, Brooklyn-native producer P.D. Wohl. Aside from his musical influences (Canadian songwriter Bruce Cockburn, British singer Seal, and legendary rock bands Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, U2, Santana, Steppenwolf and Yes among others), Trevor's writing and outlook has long been influenced by his interest in space, and exploration of the world at large. Even when he was a toddler, Trevor's preferred reading choice wasn't children's books, but rather, maps! Sure enough, Trevor has since gone on to travel, perform and live in England (where he also has citizenship), as well as journeying to Wales, Ireland, Spain, and of course many places around Canada and the USA. Taken together with the scenic, impressionistic artwork within the album's pages (which was designed by Trevor himself), the songs on Out of the Light convey this worldliness.- Shop: odax

Slaves Wage
Paul Landkamer @ Faithwriters.com 3/15/08 Now you might be thinking, 'Has this guy forgotten about that classic rock sound he started off hunting for?' Here's a band with a sound very close to classic Black Sabbath but with a purely Christian message. I introduce you now to Slaves Wage. Slaves Wage doesn't have a CD out yet, but they've got four songs available in mp3 format. Slaves Wage is pure, Christian heavy rock. 'Show Me the Way' sings of how we sometimes can't hear God's voice, but to be patient and ask that He reveal Himself clearly. 'I Feel You' tells of that feeling of awe when we realize we can actually talk to God and He actually talks to us. 'Insurrection Injection' says we're constantly bombarded by worldliness, but as long as we have choice, we can make that life-change for Jesus. 'Still Got A Lot' says we might feel low, but we're made in God's image and when we start living in Christ, He will reveal untapped abilities in us we'd never realize without Him. All these messages come in clear vocals with that heavy plodding crunching guitar and percussion backing of early classic metal. It's not speed metal with the whining high-pitched guitar. It's not thrash metal with it's noise-instrumentals. And it's not modern hardcore with it's Cookie Monster growled or screamed vocals. Slaves Wage is pure classic metal.- Shop: odax
