The Fourth Cup: Unveiling the Mystery of the Last Supper and the Cross , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 257min
From the best-selling author of The Lamb's Supper and Signs of Life comes an illuminating work on the Catholic Eucharist and its link to the Jewish Passover meal. “Read this book. And don’t just read it. Pray about it. Reflect on it. And share it with others.” (Brant Pitre, author of The Case for Jesus) In this brilliant audiobook - part memoir, part detective story, and part biblical study - Scott Hahn opens up new vistas on ancient landscapes while shedding light on his own enduring faith journey. The Fourth Cup not only tracks the author’s gradual conversion along the path of Evangelicalism to the doorsteps of the Catholic faith, but also explores the often obscure and misunderstood rituals of Passover and their importance in foreshadowing salvation in Jesus Christ. Revealing the story of his formative years as an often hotheaded student and earnest seeker in search of answers to great biblical mysteries, Hahn shows how his ardent exploration of the Bible’s Old Testament turned up intriguing clues connecting the Last Supper and Christ’s death on Calvary. As Hahn tells the story of his discovery of the supreme importance of the Passover in God’s plan of salvation, we, too, experience often-overlooked relationships between Abel, Abraham, and the Hebrews’ liberation from slavery in Egypt. Along the way, Hahn reveals how the traditional fourth cup of wine used in the concluding celebration of Passover explains in astonishing ways Christ’s paschal sacrifice. Rooted in Scripture and ingrained with lively history, The Fourth Cup delivers a fascinating view of the bridges that span old and new covenants and celebrates the importance of the Jewish faith in understanding more fully Christ’s life, death, and resurrection. ungekürzt. Nineveh: The History and Legacy of the Ancient Assyrian Capital , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 111min
When scholars study the history of the ancient Near East, several wars that had extremely brutal consequences (at least by modern standards) often stand out. Forced removal of entire populations, sieges that decimated entire cities, and wanton destruction of property were all tactics used by the various peoples of the ancient Near East against each other, but the Assyrians were the first people to make war a science. When the Assyrians are mentioned, images of war and brutality are among the first that come to mind, despite the fact that their culture prospered for nearly 2,000 years. Like a number of ancient individuals and empires in that region, the negative perception of ancient Assyrian culture was passed down through Biblical accounts, and regardless of the accuracy of the Bible’s depiction of certain events, the Assyrians clearly played the role of adversary for the Israelites. Indeed, Assyria (Biblical Shinar) and the Assyrian people played an important role in many books of the Old Testament and are first mentioned in the book of Genesis. Although the Biblical accounts of the Assyrians are among the most interesting and are often corroborated with other historical sources, the Assyrians were much more than just the enemies of the Israelites and brutal thugs. Among all the cities that thrived in the ancient Near East, few can match the opulence and ostentatiousness of Nineveh, the capital of the Assyrian Empire for much of the seventh century BCE. During that time it became known for its mighty citadels, grand palaces, beautiful gardens, and even its zoos. In fact, the beauty of Nineveh, especially its gardens, impressed later writers so much that they assigned its gardens as one of the original Seven Wonders of the World, except unfortunately for Nineveh’s memory, the location was placed in Babylon. The confusion that assigned one of the Wonders of the World to Babylon instead of Nineveh is in fact a large part of Nineveh’s history - it w ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Colin Fluxman. God is Dark Energy , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 46min
I grew up in the Bible Belt of Mississippi, and the Christian beliefs were instilled in me from the very beginning. But my astrophysics education and career in aerospace made me begin to question just who God really is. Ancient fossil finds and the growing beliefs in evolution convinced me that the Bible’s stories of creation cannot be taken literally. I needed to know who and maybe even what, God really is. My search revealed to me the scientific God of creation, the creator of the universe and everything in it. This new scientific insight shows that the Bible is a very good analogy of how the heavens and the earth and all on earth were created. All believers in God can find this new evidence totally acceptable when they recognize and accept that the Bible is not literal, but it is an analogy for creation written with the information available at the time it was written. I find the Bible to be a remarkable analogy for the scientific facts! The newly-found God, the creator, can also readily be accepted by atheists in that He meets their beliefs. Let’s take a look at what we have learned. The Bible states: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1)This belief is fairly representative of most religious believers of all faiths. The problem for atheists is that most religions have presented God as looking and acting like us humans. The atheists just cannot buy into that concept. Religious men have struggled through the ages to define God and present Him in a manner that their followers can comprehend. They had no real knowledge of God, so they conceived him in the many images which we have today. But now we have more scientific knowledge. We pretty much know how the heavens and the earth were created. You will see that Dark Energy created the heavens and the earth. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Greg Vestal. Nimrud: The History and Legacy of the Ancient Assyrian City , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 108min

Out of that land went forth Ashur and built Nineveh and the city Rehoboth and Kallah.” (Gen. 10:10-11).Although the Biblical accounts of the Assyrians are among the most interesting and are often corroborated with other historical sources, the Assyrians were much more than just the enemies of the Israelites and brutal thugs. A historical survey of ancient Assyrian culture reveals that although they were the supreme warriors of their time, they were also excellent merchants, diplomats, and highly literate people who recorded their history and religious rituals and ideology in great detail. Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ: According to Matthew, Mark, Luke, John , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 592min
This a an unabridged, voice-only collection of the four Gospels of Jesus Christ as they appear in the Revised Geneva Translation of Holy Scripture. The RGT (based on Shakespeare's favorite Bible translation) is a 21st century update of the very first widely distributed version of the Holy Bible in English, The Geneva Bible. It is specifically designed to be spoken and heard, repeatedly, and is built on the premise that a crucial key to revival in the present can be found in one simple practice from the past - speaking God’s Word back to each other in community. To that end, the RGT strives to preserve the textual cadence and poetry that is so essential to Elizabethan literature, while at the same time carefully eliminating archaic and potentially distracting 16th century words, phrases, and punctuation (such as employing the proper use of parentheses and quotation marks). It preserves the Geneva Bible’s pioneering poetic style (i.e. beginning every verse on a new line - which aids tremendously in memorization). However, unlike the Geneva Bibles of the 1500’s, there is no commentary or other human adornment. The RGT intentionally omits these things and makes single interpretive choices, based primarily on the translations of William Tyndale and F.H.A. Scrivener. The study of textual variants is left to other Bibles more properly suited for that purpose. In scholarly terms, the RGT is a formal or complete equivalency, based on the Byzantine text-type family of manuscripts. It is our hope that this project will be a living and active Bible for this generation, built for hearing and doing (Matthew 7:24), and that it will be profitable for teaching, convicting, correcting, and instructing in righteousness (2Timothy 3:16)...“...that your faith might not be in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.” (1Corinthians 2:5) ungekürzt.
