War movies promote positive images of wars when conflicts are perceived as successful, but often include antiwar messages when wars turn out badly.     Eine Weile dachte ich, ich will Rache nehmen. Für meine Eltern, die mich mit Geschichten aus den KZs quälten, für meine Großeltern, die spurlos verschwunden sind, überhaupt für die sechs Millionen, die an meiner Wiege standen. Im Gegensatz zur land-läufigen Meinung halte ich Rache für ein legitimes Motiv. Ich habe kein Verständnis für Eltern, die eine Stiftung zugunsten von Flüchtlingen gründen, nachdem ihre Tochter von einem Flüchtling ermordet wurde. So ein moralisches Übermenschentum ist mir verdächtig, vor allem, wenn die Eltern sich auch dagegen verwahren, dass der Tod ihrer Tochter "politisch instrumen-talisiert" wird. Als ob sie es nicht selber tun würden.Inzwischen glaube ich zu wissen, was der Subtext meiner Texte ist, was ich sagen will: Ihr, meine lieben Mitbürger, ihr seid Versager. Und wenn nicht ihr, dann eure Eltern und Großeltern. Sie haben mit den Juden das gleiche Pech gehabt wie die Türken mit den Armeniern.Wenn man einen Job anfängt, muss man ihn zu Ende bringen, ein Völkermord ist kein Kindergeburtstag, den man abbrechen kann, wenn es zu regnen anfängt. Schafft man es nicht, müssen sich die Nachkommen immer wieder dafür rechtfertigen, was die Altvorderen angestellt haben. Die Sache ist doch ganz einfach: Hätten meine Eltern nicht überlebt, wäre ich nicht da, dann wäre Deutschland nicht ganz so bunt und vielfältig, wie es heute ist, dafür aber eine Spur harmonischer.
