The Blinding Dark (2CD im Buch Format)
Auf 1000 Stück limitierte 2CD im Hardcover Buchformat, 48 Seiten Booklet, 2CDs inkl. 6 Bonus Tracks-The Blinding Dark- ist sicherlich nicht Covenantseinfachstes Album. Es erreicht nicht die Hitdichte von Klassikern wie -Northern Light- oder -United States Of Mind-, und es ist sicherlich nicht so gefällig wie die besten Covenant-Ohrwürmer -Dead Stars- Oder -Happy Man-. Trotzdem liegt die Spannung von -The Blinding Dark- nicht nur in seinem aussagekräftigen Titel, sondern auch in der bemerkenswerten stilistischen Weiterentwicklung, die sich Covenant mit diesem Album selbst verschrieben haben - und nicht zuletzt auch der Thematik der sie sich widmen. Natürlich sind mit -Sound Mirrors-, -Immortal- oder -I Close My Eyes- auch hier starke Tanzflächenfeger vertreten, aber der Contrapunkt des Albums liegt eher auf gedrückten, unterschwellig düsteren Tracks, wie dem von Kraftwerk und Jean Michel Jarre inspirierten -Dies Irae- oder dem Lee Hazelwood(!) Cover von -Rider On A Wild Horse- welches aus der 1977 erschienenen Country-Hymne ein düster-schleppendes elektronisches Requiem macht, das mit schweren akustischen Drums unterlegt ist. Letztendlich gibt es in -The Blinding Dark- viel zu entdecken, was wohl nicht nur darin begründet liegt, dass Ur-Covenant Joakim Montelius wieder mehr Verantwortung im Studio übernommen hat als bei den letzten Werken, und dass Daniel Myer (haujobb, Architect) wieder fester ins Live-Lineup integriert wurde. Und so erinnert -The Blinding Dark- vielleicht eher an ein Album in der Covenant-Historie, das nicht zu den großen Hitlieferanten zählte, aber gerade wegen seines ungeschliffenen Charakters viel Tiefe und Langlebigkeit besitzt: Der zweite Longplayer -Sequencer- könnte mit seinen langsamen Nummern wie -Tabula Rasa- oder -Flux- glatt das Stimmungsvorbild für -The Blinding Dark- sein. So let us take you the Milky Way At the time, musicians were trying to capture the singing of meteorites entering the terrestrial atmosphere thanks to machines developed by NASA engineers, a new generation of analog synthesizers that enabled a bunch of electronic music composers to take over the charts. It seems that the machines were definitely made to serve a radical avant-garde, and many years later, we're glad to be able to listen to it with perspective, and most of all to dance to it! While moving your feet to Cosmic Machine The Sequel, you might identify Francis Lay, recognized as one of the best music composers in France, as well as Rosebud, who had the audacity to remix the main theme from the movie More, created by The Pink Floyd. You'll also find Les Soucoupes Volantes Vertes from Heldon, band led by Richard Pinhas, a real visionary of electronic music. Pascal Comelade, a friend of his, and worthy heir of the American minimalist music also appears on this record, with a cold electronic sound called Mouvement Décomposé d'Un Coup de Marteau. Arpadys, for their part, make an apparition with a way more tribal and spatial track that will doubtlessly make you turn the volume up. Christophe, is featured too in COSMIC MACHINE THE SEQUEL. We decided to include Harp Odyssey, a track influenced by his collaborations with the electronic master Jean-Michel Jarre on 2 of his albums. Of course, Jean-Michel Jarre is an undeniable master, but he also had his: the father of electroacoustic music, Pierre Schaeffer that used to head the Group of Musical Researches, a real musical laboratory in which both artists have worked together, trying to experiment new sounds. The birth of Circles and Spirals Circles and Spirals was created 2004 by Ismael Diallo, a native of France who was early addicted to the music of Pink Floyd, Jean-Michel Jarre, Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze. But as a young Jazz saxophonist he was more involved into Fusion-Jazz, where he had more opportunity to devellope his own musical style. He composed electronic music in his free time but never thought about combining it with his saxophone playing untill he heard the music played on the music island Ibiza. For the first time he heard saxophone played on House or Chillout music. After having been playing music from other artits for more than 15 Years, he decided 2006 to create his own project: Circles and Spirals, a mix of downtempo- and Uptempo- Electronica with spices of Ethnic atmospheres.- Shop: odax
