35 Folgen & Pilotfilm

Pappy
Echoing the footsteps of Butch Cassidy and Buffalo Bill Cody, the wooden boardwalks of Meeteetse offer entry to the Elkhorn Bar, Pappy's stomping ground in the Rocky Mountains of Wyoming. Pappy's neck of the woods IS the heart of country music, it's the foundation of old west ideals. It's work hard for a living and take time to help your neighbor, it's stand up for what's right and sit down for a cold beer with friends on Saturday night. With the opening of the saloon door, you are amidst a gathering of ranchers, business owners, cowboys, and a few outlaws whose ghostly remains still linger in the mountain air. Long necks and tall tales surround you as hollers of 'Hootie Hoot!' contagiously radiate from this posse like football fans doing the wave in a stadium. Guitar in hand, Pappy's boots clap across the old floor and 'Hootie HOOT!' is returned with a wave and a happy, familiar grin. It was within these old, saloon walls that country music songwriter and entertainer Bob 'Pappy' Pappenfort was persuaded by his "PappyRAZZI' following to record his music, his musical accomplishments are celebrated with the release of his first album, aproposly named, 'PAPPY.' Having written or co-written all 11 tracks on his debut CD, Pappy's autobiographical collection of straight-shooting songs tell of the twists and turns that define all our lives with impassioned lyrics and memorable, country melodies. His soothing, distinct vocalization and occasional country twang make Pappy's voice easy to recognize. It's the kind of CD you let play over and over as it becomes a familiar friend, keeping you company in the background for decades to come. 'I am as proud of this project as I've ever been about anything. Every song means something very deeply to me.' Bob "Pappy" Pappenfort hones his craft the old-fashioned way, he scribbles his lyrics on paper, finds the music on his self-built, acoustic guitar and works his songs out in front of a live audience of friends and fans. 'Music is part of who I am. Songwriting is a refuge for me, it takes my mind off my problems when I need a break and it helps me sort out my feelings when I need to figure things out." "Every song on the "PAPPY" album is something I care about, it's real emotion. Lyrics have to come straight from the heart if they are going to be any good. I'm a real guy so people always seem to identify with my stories.' Pappy has spent his lifetime creating a solid and steadily growing catalog of great songs. A father, a friend, a songwriter, a guitar maker, a rancher, Pappy is real and that honesty and integrity resonates throughout his poignant music. "There's a song in everything I do. I sit with my guitar on the porch with a glass of whiskey and a cigar, I watch the hay grow, I write and I play to the cows." The year 2009 found Pappy willing to take a risk and share his stories with the release of his first album, "PAPPY," "These eleven songs are a record of me, my lost love, new hopes, and friends. I hope my music speaks to everyone who listens.' "One Strike Two Strike" and 'How Can I Tell," "Well, that gal sure knew how to keep a guy unsure of where he stood with her! One day, I was just over a love that kept handing me sorrow. And I really did head to Mexico." "One of my favorite songs on this CD is, 'Careful What You Ask For.' I've spent my lifetime dreaming of having just what I got, and when I got it, it just didn't fit from the inside, so the dream had to change. 'Unfinished Songs' is the story of the struggle to figure out that dream didn't fit. 'Layin' The Blame' is the realization that it 'takes two' for that dream to work, or not. Those songs all kind of work together. 'In the 80's, there I was on a stool at the East Lake Bar in Nevada and I finally took the time to look around me. The room was smoke-filled and there was this one drunk guy in the corner, the jukebox was playing, and my only company was the glass in front of me. The woman who I later married, had broken up with me because I was too busy being fancy free. And I thought to myself, this is like a 'Fools Paradise.' Several years later, we divorced and, again, we gave it another shot in 'Second Time Around.'" "'Meant To Be' was almost named 'Annie's Song,' but John Denver already had that title. Anne was a gal I was in love with from an early age, I used to travel at a moments notice to go see her. But sometimes family politics can get in the way. We really were meant to be, we were robbed." 'I've always been a wanderer, I love to travel. In my 20's, I'd just get in the truck and drive, then sleep in the back when it got dark. 'Rambler's End' came about when I met a woman and she made me think, 'Huh, maybe I should settle down." "I get asked all the time if there really IS a Rosie. Yep, 'Searchin' For Rosie' talks about a cute, little, auburn-haired girl I knew. One day, she crossed my mind and I wondered what happened to her. I did try to look her up on the internet once, but never found her. As I was writing, I got to thinking about online relationships and the song just rolled into finding a different Rosie. I get requests for that song at every show." Pappy travels with his guitar to the ranches and local haunts in Wyoming that have sought him out to entertain their guests. 'Campfire singing is just the way I like it, I hope my lyrics speak to everyone and I know songs like 'Night Rider's Lament' and 'Desperado' offer up a good, old-fashioned, Wyoming, campfire evening!' Pappy's performances are full of emotional energy, he sings with unfaltering conviction and it's always a good time. Traveling down the road to musical success, he is working on a new album, "Life is good, I have my ranch, my family, the freedom to travel and I wouldn't trade anything for the time with my buddies sharing a beer. I am grateful for all the people who believed in me and have supported me down this musical road. That means everything to me. I appreciate every one of them. Here's to you all, Hootie HOOT!'- Shop: odax
