Celebration! Original Compositions for Organ
The pieces on this CD have been composed by Andrew for special occasions, some of them for marriage celebrations of friends. Andrew hopes you enjoy listening to the 'Celebration' pieces as much as he has enjoyed composing, playing and recording them. It has been a fabulous and exciting journey from writing the pieces, some as early as 1995, to recording the CD last September at the wonderful Holy Trinity Church in Ripon, North Yorkshire. The CD was launched last Christmas at a Charity Event raising money for the work of Education for Slum Children in Nepal. 50p from the sale of this CD is going to support the vital work carried out by the charity Education for Slum Children based in Nepal. For further information e-mail the charity at MCN@wlink.com.np Having grown up in a very musical family, it was inevitable that Andrew would follow in his Grandfather's, and Great Grandfather's footsteps. From an early age Andrew would marvel at his Grandpa playing the violin accompanied by his Great Grandpa playing on the piano. At the age of six Andrew began piano lessons with Mrs Bass and was soon waking the house in the early hours with his piano practice! Later he was taught by Miss Elsie Garjulo. At Junior school, Andrew learnt the violin and joined a local String orchestra. The organ was always a great interest for Andrew and watching the Organist at his home church in Totterdown Bristol was a true inspiration! At the age of 13 Andrew began organ lessons with Reg Parker, FRCO and progressed onto playing for services at many of the South Bristol Methodist Churches. In 1987 Andrew joined the British Methodist Youth Choir and so began a love of singing that he still thoroughly enjoys today. In 1993 Andrew embarked on a BA (Hons) degree in Music and Education at the University College of Ripon and York St John.Within weeks, Andrew was having organ lessons with Robert Green, FRCO of the nearby Grammar School. Andrew joined the college orchestra and the Chamber Choir and also began leading a Children's Orchestra for nearby schools. In 1995 Andrew had the privilege of being taught by Kerry Beaumont, FRCO, then organist of Ripon Cathedral. On Graduation in York Minster in September of 1997 Andrew went on to begin his teaching career at Holy Trinity CE Junior School, Ripon, North Yorkshire.During his time at the school he directed many instrumental ensembles including Music Makers (the school orchestra), School Choir and the Handchime group. Andrew continues to enjoy playing the organ at many Methodist and Anglican churches around Ripon and the surrounding area. He has a wealth of experience playing in numerous locations around the country for both services and recitals. Andrew enjoys playing a wide range of music that is suitable for any occasion or event. Andrew continues to play the organ for weekly Church Services in and around Ripon. He is an accomplished wedding organist and pianist and also enjoys playing the organ for concerts and recitals.- Shop: odax
