Ten Lords A-Leaping: A Father Christmas Mystery , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 916min
Although Father Tom Christmas serves his little church in enchanting Thornford Regis with a glad and faithful heart, he never expects to find himself skydiving to raise money for it. Nor, safely back on the ground, to see two of the other divers leap from the plane, then tangle in a midair punch-up and begin falling to the earth. To say that there is tension between the men in question - Oliver, the 7th Marquess of Morborne, and his brother-in-law Hector, the 10th Earl of Fairhaven - would be an understatement. But the trouble among this ancient landed family really began a generation ago, when a marquess divorced his first spouse to marry his brother’s wife, fathering in his two marriages a viper’s nest of arrogant young aristocrats. Now they have all turned up for the show to witness this shocking event in the sky. Thankfully the men land safely, but death will not be slighted. Much to Father Tom’s dismay, he later discovers Lord Morborne lying deceased on castle grounds. Rumors of bigamy, art forgeries, and upstairs/downstairs intrigue fly. So do whispers of unvicarly behavior between Tom and Oliver’s beautiful half-sister, Lady Lucinda. In fact, the vicar may be headed for a very hard landing of his own. C. C. Benison gives a virtuoso performance in this gripping new puzzle, a compelling and wise holiday mystery with the irresistible allure of hot tea and warm scones on a cold winter’s day. ungekürzt. Evening by Evening Readings for the Month of September: Readings at Eventide , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 83min
Evening Readings for September by Charles H Spurgeon. From the book, "Evening by Evening" published by Charles H Spurgeon in 1868. Initially Spurgeon published, "Morning by Morning". Because this publication became so popular, he subsequently published "Evening Readings". This audio book is the evening readings for September. From the preface by Charles H Spurgeon." Having had the seal of our Master's blessings set upon our former volume entitled, "Morning by Morning," we have felt encouraged to give our best attention to the present series of brief meditations, and we send them forth with importunate prayer for a blessing to rest upon every reader. Already more than 20,000 readers are among our morning fellow worshippers. Oh, that all may receive grace from the Lord by means of the portion read; and when a similar numbers shall be gathered to read the evening selection, make the Fathers smile be their benison. We have striven to keep out the common track, and hence we have used unusual text, and have brought forward neglected subjects. The vice of many religious works is their dullness. from this we have striven to be free: all her friends must judge how far successfully. Out of our own experience we have drawn much of our matter, and we have always felt assured that a truth which has been sanctified to our own good will not be without unction for others. If we may lead one heart upward which otherwise had drooped, or so in a single mind a holy purpose which else had never been conceived, we shall be grateful. The Lord send this such results in thousands of instances, and his shall be all the praise. The longer we live the more deeply are we conscious that the Holy Spirit alone can make truth profitable to the heart; and therefore in earnest prayer we commit this volume and its companion to his care. ungekürzt. Méliès Fairy Tales in Color
Over the past ten years, many Méliès elements have been newly rediscovered, and are presented here many on Blu-ray disc for the first time - culled from the best archival materials and using the most recent restoration technologies available. Lobster Films (based in Paris, birthplace of Méliès) scanned the best sources for each of these films, and performed an extensive digital restoration, stabilizing the images and regrading faded colors. Eric Lange supervised the entire project. The nitrate hand-colored prints and original camera negatives came from major archives and collectors around the world. We thank the EYE Film Institute, Library of Congress, Cinémathèque française, and Národní Filmovy Archiv for their help and their trust. Focusing on a selection of hand-colored films, and designed to feature Méliès' love of storytelling, this collection showcases Méliès' talent for bringing imagination and fantasy to his films. The recorded narration tracks mirror the way these turn-of-the-last-century films were originally presented. The accompanying booklet narration texts, when read aloud, transports the magic of these stories to children of all ages. This set features music scores from seven talented musicians, and English narration tracks for select titles (noted below), along with a booklet that includes optional read-along narration to select shorts in the collection. Helping to bring these films to life, is the work of the following talented musicians: Brian Benison, Eric Le Guen, Antonio Coppola, Robert Israel, Neal Kurz, Jeff Mills, Alexander Rannie and Serge Bromberg. Méliès: Fairy Tales in Color will fascinate and entertain both young and old.- Shop: odax
