Bernhard W Anderson (1916-2007) was emeritus professor of Old Testament Theology at the Princeton Theological Seminary. In The Unfolding Drama of the Bible, he describes the Biblical message as a drama in three acts, bookended by a prologue and an epilogue. The prologue deals with creation, the first act which he calls: “The formation of God's people”, deals with the exodus from Egypt, the Covenant, the people's disobedience, decay and injustice. The second act: “The reformation of God's people” examines the captivity and the return from exile in Babylon. Ezra and Nehemiah have a prominent role, observance of the Law and religious rituals are emphasized. The third act, called “The transformation of God's people” traces the development of a traditional nation into the Christian community of saints and religious people all around the globe. The Acts of the Apostles tell the story of the rise and expansion of the Church. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Joe Scarpete. Award-winning narrator Alison Larkin gives thrilling voice to the elements of lesbian attraction and forbidden and dangerous desires in the story of Carmilla, the Gothic female vampire tale that inspired its more famous masculine counterpart Dracula."This double billing of Bram Stoker’s Dracula and Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu’s Carmilla, the vampire story that inspired Stoker, is piercingly wonderful. Bookended by haunting music, the tales share gripping plots, first-person narrators, requisite settings in mountainous middle Europe, and some people with sharp teeth. They also have fantastic narrators. In Carmilla, Alison Larkin’s crystalline tone transmutes as needed from young English girl to old European man, and her pacing transforms the old-fashioned sentences into easy listening while maintaining tension. Clive Hayward’s performance of the tightly plotted Dracula is a tour de force of clear narration, ratcheting-up anxiety, and astonishing characterizations of everyone from English country gal to the Vlad himself. Do not miss the postproduction chat between Larkin and Hayward, which adds to the production’s many pleasures.” (Audiofile)  ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Alison Larkin. A new interpretation of the work of Bramante, suggesting an agenda for contemporary architectural practice In On Bramante, architect Pier Paolo Tamburelli considers the work of the celebrated Italian Renaissance architect Donato Bramante and through this reappraisal suggests a possible agenda for current architectural practice. Bramante, Tamburelli argues, offers an excellent starting point to imagine a contemporary theory of space, to reflect on the relationship between architecture and politics, and to look back-with neither nostalgia nor contempt-at the tradition of Western classicism. Starting from a discussion of the difference in the work of Bramante in Milan (1481-1499) and Rome (1499-1514), Tamburelli highlights the peculiarities of Bramante's architecture, especially in comparison to that of his predecessor Leon Battista Alberti and successor Andrea Palladio. This in turn opens up new possibilities for appreciating his spatial experiments, and to derive from Bramante's abstraction and disassociation of form from function a revised theory of space for contemporary architecture. Such a theory might even advance a newfound political understanding of classicism, and a model-perhaps more valid now than ever before-for a public architecture. The text is bookended by a series of color photographic plates of Bramante's works by photographer Bas Princen.
