Then, in a conversion that made headkines and astonished both sides of the abortion debate, he renounced his profession to become a pro-life advocate. But Dr. Nathanson's journey was not over. “No longer is the miraculous going to be about the great man or woman of God. It's going to be about a nameless, faceless generation that preaches the gospel and demonstrates it with signs, wonders and miracles." Bill Easter is a man who hungered after God and received a powerful anointing from the Holy Spirit. Having been deeply affected by the Brownsville Revival in Pensacola, Florida, Bill became hungry to know more of God and determined to follow Him wherever the journey would lead. From giving his life at an altar to cycling to state capitals and praying for revival in America, to having an encounter with Native Americans in a canyon deep, to being called to India, Bill brings the listeners with him on this journey into the apostolic and challenges them to embrace their own Journey into a personal walk with God. ungekürzt. Modern presidents engage in public leadership through national television addresses, routine speechmaking, and by speaking to local audiences. With these strategies, presidents tend to influence the media's agenda. In fact, presidential leadership of the news media provides an important avenue for indirect presidential leadership of the public, the president's ultimate target audience. Although frequently left out of sophisticated treatments of the public presidency, the media are directly incorporated into this book's theoretical approach and analysis. The authors find that when the public expresses real concern about an issue, such as high unemployment, the president tends to be responsive. But when the president gives attention to an issue in which the public does not have a preexisting interest, he can expect, through the news media, to directly influence public opinion. Eshbaugh-Soha and Peake offer key insights on when presidents are likely to have their greatest leadership successes and demonstrate that presidents can indeed "break through the noise" of news coverage to lead the public agenda. The book is published by Stanford University Press. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Ron Minatrea. Audio sample: https://samples.audible.de/bk/acx0/001688/bk_acx0_001688_sample.mp3. This volume gathers studies by prominent scholars and philosophers about the question how have major figures from the history of philosophy, and some contemporary philosophers, addressed "the ultimate why question": why is there anything at all rather than nothing whatsoever? The authors take this question seriously, striving to go beyond accounting for the present state of reality as distinguished from a prior or subsequent state, to the more profound question of discerning why anything whatsoever exists. The responses are varied: Lloyd P. Gerson considers Greek philosophy, and May Sim examines Chinese philosophy. Jon McGinnis explores a leading medieval Muslim philosopher, Avicenna, and volume editor John F. Wippel explores a leading medieval Christian philosopher, Thomas Aquinas. These chapters are followed by four responses from the modern period: Tad M. Schmaltz on Descartes; Daniel Dahlstrom on Leibniz, especially as he is understood by Heidegger; Edward C. Halper on Hegel; and, finally, Holger Zaborowski on F. W. J. Schelling. The final section of the book contains personal responses proposed by three contemporary thinkers who have addressed the problem in very different ways - Robert Cummings Neville, Brian Martine, and Nicholas Rescher. Listeners will gain a greater understanding and appreciation of an issue that has taxed the ingenuity of many philosophers through the centuries and continues to intrigue many thinkers today. The book is published by The Catholic University of America Press. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Kevin Charles Minatrea.
