Plotin: Enneaden Entstanden von 254 bis 270. Die Einteilung von Plotins Schriften in sechs Neunergruppen (Enneaden) stammt von Porphyrios, einem seiner Schüler, der sie nach dem Tod des Lehrers herausgab. Erstdruck in lateinischer Übersetzung durch Marsilio Ficino: Florenz 1492. Der Text folgt der ersten vollständigen deutschen Übersetzung durch Hermann Friedrich Müller von 1878. Vollständige Neuausgabe mit einer Biographie des Autors. Herausgegeben von Karl-Maria Guth. Berlin 2015. Textgrundlage sind die Ausgaben: Plotin: Die Enneaden. Übersetzt von Hermann Friedrich Müller. Band 1 und 2, Berlin: Weidmann, 1878/80. Die Paginierung obiger Ausgaben wird in dieser Neuausgabe als Marginalie zeilengenau mitgeführt. Umschlaggestaltung von Thomas Schultz-Overhage unter Verwendung des Bildes: Platons Akademie, Mosaikfußboden in Pompeji, 1. Jahrhundert n. Chr.. Gesetzt aus Minion Pro, 11 pt. Über den Autor: Um 205 wird Plotin in Lykopolis (heute Assiut in Ägypten) geboren. Er studiert in Alexandria bei Ammonios Sakkas, der eine neuplatonische Schule gegründet hatte. Die Neuplatoniker beschäftigen sich damals vor allem mit Kommentaren der klassischen griechischen Philosophie. 242 nimmt Plotin am Feldzug des Kaisers Gordianus gegen die Perser teil. Ab 244 lehrt er in Rom Philosophie und verfaßt zahlreiche Schriften, die erst nach seinem Tode 270 in Minturnae (Kampanien) von dem Schüler Porphyrios, in sechs Neunergruppen (Enneaden) aufgeteilt, herausgebracht werden.
