Un Lun Dun , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 783min
The iron wheel began to spin, slowly at first, then faster and faster. The room grew darker. As the light lessened, so did the sound. Deeba and Zanna stared at each other in wonder. The noise of the cars and vans and motorbikes outside grew tinny…. The wheel turned off all the cars and turned off all the lamps. It was turning off London. Zanna and Deeba are two girls leading ordinary lives, until they stumble into the world of UnLondun, an urban Wonderland where all the lost and broken things of London end up… and some of its lost and broken people too. Here, discarded umbrellas stalk with spidery menace, carnivorous giraffes roam the streets, and a jungle sprawls beyond the door of an ordinary house. UnLondun is under siege by the sinister Smog and its stink-junkie slaves; it is a city awaiting its hero. Guided by a magic book that can’t quite get its facts straight, and pursued by Hemi the half-ghost boy, the girls set out to stop the poisonous cloud before it burns everything in its path. They are joined in their quest by a motley band of UnLondun locals, including Brokkenbroll, boss of the broken umbrellas, Obaday Fing, a couturier whose head is an enormous pincushion, and an empty milk carton called Curdle. The world of UnLondun is populated by astonishing frights and delights that will thrill the imagination. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Karen Cass. The Creeps: A Halloween Novel , Hörbuch, Digital, ungekürzt, 478min
Adventure is alive when you mess with the dead.... When her brother was alive, Elyse Korbin used to live for Halloween. Now, a year after piano prodigy Patrick Korbin's untimely death by trick-or-treating, she finds it hard to live for anything. School in Bootville is a drag, her parents have lost their minds with grief, and her best friend, Will Castle, is probably in love with her. Nothing seems to matter until the discovery of an ancient text filled with bizarre markings pulls Elyse from her mourning gloom and pushes her into a night of chilling adventure. With the help of her fellow misfits, Will and the mildly-autistic Colin Niemann, the violin-slinging Elyse decodes the spidery encryption and discovers the uncanny ability to summon Patrick's ghost from beyond the grave with her rare musical gifts. Her wiseass brother seems to relish his newly-undead status, but their tampering with the barrier between life and the death has brought back an unspeakable evil: Colonel Spicy Jack Cavendish, the legendary boogeyman whose fury almost destroyed Bootville during the American Revolution. As Spicy Jack and his trash-talking pumpkin-lantern sidekick bumble their way through the modern world, Elyse and her friends must seek the assistance of a gallery of eccentric town characters from both the present and the past in a race to unravel the mystery of Bootville's dark history, and thwart the Colonel's sinister plans to finish the job he started centuries ago. Funny, irreverent (and perhaps even...emotional?), The Creeps dishes out king-sized fun for all ages, and scoffs at those who would hand out pennies or granola bars. You deserve better than that and you know it. So, celebrate in style this Halloween, and give yourself (wait for it) The Creeps. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Justin Zeppa. Institutionalised Trilogy (eBook, PDF)
House of Erotica presents the Institutionalised TrilogyInstitutionalised - Volume 1Two unrelated young women coincidently find themselves in similar circumstances; each having an inheritance at stake with a grasping manipulative stepmother holding the purse-strings. Both girls have found an ally in a supportive, if overbearing, 'aunt' figure but find themselves lovingly guided into a stifling and increasingly dependent relationship. An advertisement calling for medical research volunteers seems to offer an ideal opportunity for each to temporarily distance herself from her situation. But is all as it seems? Why is the security so tight? Why are there bars on the windows? Why all the petty rules, restrictions and talk of punishment? Volume 1 of this adults-only trilogy uniquely ties together such themes as corporal punishment, bondage, humiliation, medical fetish, mind control, incarceration and others.Institutionalised - Volume 2St Mary's Hospital School - the motto: through obedience comes learning, through discipline comes obedience. Humiliating enough that it should be proudly emblazoned on the front of the gymslip, the breat pocket of the stiffly starched blouse, the little open-fronted waist-length cape - that fastened so tightly at the throat and that she wore of occasion over the top - and just about every other item of clothing to boot. As a statement of intent that fine embroidery spoke volumes; the crossed crook-handled canes as a heraldic device was of particularly questionable value, practically openly stating to the world that here was a young lady subject to the kind of physical chastisement that most would have assumed had long been consigned to history. But then again, the uniform itself was a thing of the past, an anachronistic throwback to long-obsolete values and the mentality of seen-but-not-heard, quiet-as-a-mouse submissive femininity. Bad enough, then, that she was way past school age - worse still that the institution in question was little more than the outcome of a gleam in a psychologist's eye. Elsewhere, another young womnan, already resigned to her ugly green and white striped nylon prison uniform dress, was beginning to appreciate the real meaning behing the nomenclature: Victorian Workhouse. Both have in common that they are at loggerheads with their respective guardians, both are volunteers having been persuaded of the advisability of building a financial buffer before starting university, but more importantly before undertaking mounting a legal challenge for their inheritance and rights. The financial return for a 90 day residential clinical trial had seemed too good to be true - perhaps it was. For both these young women it had been far easier to hoin than it was was turning out it would be to leave - there was always some obstruction, some excuse, some extension to their stay, justifiable by one clause or another. Both young women were now learning the hard way that freedom could be as tenous as a spidery signature scrawled on a crumpled document.Institutionalised - Volume 3Half their number were saddled with the additional encumberment of a plastic card hung around the neck on a thin, silvery chain-link lanyard spelling out the label 'STUTTERER' in glossy raised gold capitals. Not, ironically this violet eyed specimen, despite having developed a most debilitating nervous stammer even before beginning her tenure in this place. They were berated for the tiniest slip, while she would simply be told to take her time, to avoid long words and those she knew she couldn't' pronounce. Her stammer would be met with a condescending smile and the patient, resigned advice to try again avoiding this word or that or to find a shorter, simpler term - it was an insidious process she worried was making her worse not better....following on from the previous Institutionalised novels comes this final chapter in the trilogy.- Shop: buecher
