Although never considered to be a popular speaker nor prolific writer, A. W. Tozer's audiences did appreciate what he had to say, and he was probably the most widely read Christian writer of his time. Keys to the Deeper Life contains six of his best-known essays and editorials. In them he rigorously examines many of the failings and foibles of his day. Although most were written more than three decades ago, the insights they offer are as fresh and thought-provoking as the day they were published. Robert Walker, the editor of Christian Life, and a long-time associate of Tozer, has written an Introduction to the book that delightfully captures Tozer's irascible genius. Keys to the Deeper Life also contains the account of an exclusive interview with A. W. Tozer shortly before his death. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Michael Kramer. During a train trip from Chicago to Texas in the late 1940's, A.W. Tozer began to write The Pursuit of God. He wrote all night, the words coming to him as fast as he could put them down. When the train pulled into McAllen, the rough draft was done. Although written in such a remarkably short period of time, the depth, clarity and completeness of Tozer's message has made The Pursuit of God an enduring favorite. ungekürzt. Language: English. To have found God and still to pursue Him is a paradox of love, scorned indeed by the too-easily-satisfied religious person, but justified in happy experience by the children of the burning heart. Saint Bernard of Clairvaux stated this holy paradox in a musical four-line poem. Come near to the holy men and women of the past and you will soon feel the heat of their desire after God. Let A. W. Tozer's pursuit of God spur you also into a genuine hunger and thirst to truly know God. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Mark Christensen. Come near to the holy men and women of the past and you will soon feel the heat of their desire after God. They mourned for Him, they prayed and wrestled and sought for Him day and night, in season and out, and when they had found Him the finding was all the sweeter for the long seeking. (A.W. Tozer)Originally published in 1948, Tozer's The Pursuit of God stands as an enduring favorite among Christian classics.  In this uplifting listen from Apostle Audio and Kyle Tait, Tozer aims to unpack the truth, that to "find" God is only the beginning of a lifelong chase after the almighty creator. ungekürzt. This piece, formerly titled The Divine Conquest, was created as a sequel to The Pursuit of God. Admitting to having been forced by inward pressure and an unbearable burden to write it, Tozer's aim was to assure believers that if they want to know the power of Christ they must be invaded by God. "This little work of the spiritual way has not been 'made' in any mechanical sense, it has been born out of inward necessity....The sight of the languishing church around me and the operations of a new spiritual power within me have set up a pressure impossible to resist." - A.W. Tozer ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Grover Gardner. Audio sample: https://samples.audible.de/bk/hove/000017/bk_hove_000017_sample.mp3. Digital audiobook in aax.

Of Tozer's many books and other writings, The Pursuit of God is his most famous and widely read. The Pursuit of God in particular has reached all the corners of the world. This book is considered a Christian classic and is still read and listened to by many faithful Christians to this day. It was written and published while he was a pastor in Chicago.  In The Pursuit of God, Tozer writes about why people pursue a relationship with God and how one can best go about doing so. Much of Tozer's doctrine can be found in this book. Tozer writes, “We need never shout across the spaces to an absent God. He is nearer than our own soul, closer than our most secret thoughts.” In chapter 1, Tozer explains that the reason one desires to pursue God is because God gave one that desire. God gives one the impulse, but one must “follow hard after him”. Tozer implores readers to strip to the “bare essentials” and present themselves before God without any efforts to impress him.  In the second chapter, Tozer uses the example of Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his only son in order to show obedience and unwavering faith. Tozer writes that one does not own anything if one follows God truly. Tozer writes, “Millions call themselves by his name, it is true, and pay some token homage to him, but a simple test will show how little he is really honored among them. Let the average man be put to the proof on the question of who or what is ABOVE, and his true position will be exposed. Let him be forced into making a choice between God and money, between God and men, between God and personal ambition, God and self, God and human love, and God will take second place every time. Those other things will be exalted above. However the man may protest, the proof is in the choice he makes day after day throughout his life.” ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Jimmy Kieffer.
